I’d say the midfield is a bigger problem than the back 4 but..

Don't actually think our general performance tonight was that bad. Just poor poor errors at both ends of the pitch. Both penalties were shocking. Good to see Kev back at least.

It's not just about Rodri...or certainly should not be....
We have been hit by the breakaway suckered punch way too often and it feels like we need a radical change of defence philosophy

Too many missed opportunities in the first half are at the root of the problem tonight.
We should have been out of sight by the half hour.
Having said that we have a big problem at the back.
There is a definite lack of leadership at the back and I suspect Akanji is nowhere near fit.
Hopefully we can recover our CBs soon. Until then we are going to continue to struggle to keep clean sheets.
The season is still young and we are in a good position despite recent results so the last thing we need to do is panic.
Where’s an international break when you need one eh!!

He’ll have more fire in his belly over the next few days, for sure. Hopefully it transfers into the players n’all.

No, they're just 2 points ahead of us despite all the issues we have have all season. It is relentless, 2 games a week every week except for the international breaks, which just stretches out the season and makes it worse, and takes even more out of the players (most of whom are internationals) because of all the travelling for a pointless tin pot international competition. The big problem this creates is the lack of recovery time, especially when most of the players are paying for most of the summer. It's more or less an 11-month a year job now, so you get more injuries and it takes longer for players to recover.

For everybody, not just us.

Maybe having some fit defenders would help?

Yeah but mate we already know you can't rely on Ake and especially Stones to stay fit for any significant amount time, and we know that Walker is 34 and past his best, and you can't be sure that Pep and Txiki know about it too and yet they did nothing about it.

My take that pep has been slightly nieve these last couple of games. It OK leaving our defence short when we have a fully fit walker, Dias akanji etc. But when akanji is not fully fit and young lad making his debut we need more protection or play a less high pressing game and the defensive line slightly deeper. Just play a bit more compact

He’s the top scorer in the premier league, Gvardiol and Kovacic are the next best with 3 goals each and that’s the biggest problem.

We know that.
But his goals come in clumps.

Can you honestly say he can't do better in games we've been shite.
