Sporting Lisbon crisis, could we use anybody?

Gelson and Leao are a no brainer, could even get a decent wedge after a year of having them as squad players/on loan

Failed to qualify for the Champions League and attacked by masked fans. Good job they didn't support City from 76 to 2010, they'd have been at the training ground on a weekly basis twatting players.

Manchester City striker David James has asked for his release.

If all this holds up through the legal system, they will have lost dozens if not hundreds of millions from player sales. Not to mention they won't be close to competing with Porto and Benfica, may even fall out of European places and lose that money too. Disastrous stuff.

Carvalho resembles Yaya both in physicality and in lackadaisicalness.

No idea if he’s good enough for us, though.

I doubt if any midfielder out there can eclipse this record.

Gelson Martins will be great for someone on a free, same with Fernandes.

I like watching Martins play, not sure we would be in for him with Mahrez (?) but Sporting have lost out on a lot of money regardless.

I've become rather partial to those delightful Pastel de Nata custard pies they have started selling at Costa. If their food outlets in Lisbon have any spare then it might just kick off the season on an even better footing than last. Three or four Pastel de Nata instead of one Lancashire butter pie is a good swap!

Would be an unbelievable signing on a free! But to be fair I could see him at benfica to be honest

I completely agree, there’s more talk today of us moving quickly and trying to sort this deal out.

I’m all for it!
