Spot of bother yesterday

Ok lets all calm down a bit here. I was at the game, parked at the top of the Bolton Road walked past the pub with my nephew ( laughed at a few blues playing footie with a condom at a pub further up the road), chucked a few quid in the bucket for carl, laughed at the sing along going on under the canvas in the car park, then got down to the ground for about 3.30. Top atmosphere before during and after the game, no sign of trouble anywhere, so disappointed to hear there was a bit of aggro.

Scottyboi...you were clearly there. and according to you the reason the trouble started was nothing to do with what the guy was wearing, but because someone leathered a football at someone else and an argument broke out, then police got involved.

So what was it..black guys offended by the racist nature of his outfit, or guys scrapping because there pint got spilt?

Was anyone else there and saw what happened. If you weren't there don't bother posting.
I was there which is why I started this thread (sorry I did now!). A half cast lad threw a punch at the guy in the gorilla suit who DID have a white t-shirt with Caicedo written on the back. I saw it while we were inside the pub and commented to my mate.

At the time the punch was thrown, I do not know if the t-shirt was still on, I actually think he had got rid by now.

The gorilla guy backed into me when the lads started on him, I had to get out of the way before I got a smack!

Yes I agree at the same time there was beer flying and the ball had been nicked by the coppers, so the actual reason the stormed in could have been coz of the punches or something else??

Seen the two lads who were arrested, cuffed and bundled into a van around 3.35pm, both had hoods up early 20s or late teens one white the other mixed race.

this was a seperate incident like i stated. The half cast lad has previous and i think he is banned anyways. People were drunk and they police just wanted to arrest people and stop them going to the game them horses were a fucking joke the poor things were too big for the tent and people got knocked flying. No racism just a football a gorrilla outfit and a city fan pissed up (white) who got hit by the ball and was drunk and wanted to twat him.

I was upstairs in the Fernhurst by the window from about 1.00, so had a pretty good view of what happenned.
Thing that stuck in my mind was how one copper somehow managed to get isolated amongst a "boisterous" crowd of City fans.

My other observation is that the car park, with that amount of people on it, was no place for police horses.
Just as well it wasn't an evening game and this didn't happen in the dark.

Couple of City fans rucking with each other at 2-0 down got turfed out.

I thought they may have had banning orders as they were both pretty calm, not like they had been fighting or anything, it would expalin their hoods a bit too.

apparently last season at sheff utd the hyde lads were in a pub and it all kicked off there and arrests were made. And at stoke at home the police grabbed the same lad and his mate with the small dreds and gave them a talking to aswell. So this is the reason i think he was arrested.I could be wrong but like i said was stood there for ages. And if he did have that shirt on i would of hit him myself and looked shit scared when that lad was after him i doubt he would be brave enough and thick enough to do what people are saying he did :)

I was outside the tent next to the Carling stall (11 pound for 4 cans was a a joke). All the younger city fans was boisterous and just throwing beer about jumping up and down. The police were wrong to go charging in, it just made the situation worse. Did anyone see the lads on the 9 o'clock train from Darwen?? Some of the lads were trying to smash the panels in next to the lights. One lad came unstuck and had half his thumb hanging off from doing it.

oo before i go is there no way of deleting this thread i have nightmares of the mirror making a story saying a pub full of city fans dressed as gorrillas mocked there own player or something along them lines.

I wasn't there.

But remove the "football" part of the story and see how it looks.

I go to a new years eve party dressed as,for instance, Frank Bruno.I decide to wear a Gorilla suit,to emphasise the idea that Bruno is indeed a well-built,powerful individual.
I then complete my costume with a t-shirt bearing his name.

I enter the party, and a few black(and white) people I've never met take exception to the way I'm dressed.

My fault for being a total numbnut or theirs for being "too pc?"

?

Yours.
If you wanted to go as Joe Bugner would you wear a gorilla suit to emphasise his size

I hate the pc brigade with a passion, but the only reason they exist is because of numpty's who hark back to the 70's style 'Love Thy Neighbour' 'humour'. There is only one form of racism to me, prejudice because of skin colour, (in both directions), and should not be tolerated.

Because of this the rest of the normal populus have to endure things like people protesting about Travellers Camps being labelled racist. Grinds me gears!

I was there and the gorilla guy did nothing wrong.

Why is it racist wearing a gorilla suit and a white T shirt with Caicedo’s name on the back. Caicedo is a huge ripped up guy. He was simply making a statement to say that Caicedo is a big gripper just like a Gorilla that is big and strong!!

Why is it that people always have to play the racism card??

Remember Bernard Hopkins saying he would never be beaten by a white boy!!! Imagine if it was the other way round and Calzaghe has said that. People would have been on the band wagon straight away, yet no1 was really bothered by it.

Another example, Kelly Pavlik nicknamed ‘The Ghost’, is that classed racism to white people?? Because reference to how white his skin is being made!!

What about people saying Golly Dolls are racist!!! Is a snowman racist to white people??

All these are just examples, people should just get over skin colour and move on. It’s pathetic!!

I am the gorilla in question!!!!!

Since the 80's city fans have wore fancy dress over the festive period so with city fans bringing inflatable objects to matches, primarily over-sized bananas, so dressing as a gorilla isn't out of the ordinary.

As for wearing the Caicedo t-shirt, colour or racism did not come into it, the reference to Caicedo was to his big build.

Apologies for those who took offence....

Would anyone be bothered if he'd come as a horse with an RVN shirt on...?

Or as Rooney in a Shrek suit...?

Or as Bellamy in Snake outfit...?

Or Ronaldo as a woman, obviously...?

Difference?

Discuss...

I understand what your saying, and there is no problem in coming in a Gorilla suit, but as black people are racially referred to as being like moneys/gorillas (ie the chants SWP among other England players were subjected to in Madrid) then I think the Caicedo t-shirt would/could be PERCEIVED as a form of racism.

I am not saying gorilla boy is racist, just that it can easily been seen that way.

To gorilla boy, did you get out of it OK? It seemed the police stepped in and that was the end of it really.

Was it also that someone did take offence or something else?

I know! The cheek of those black people, they should stop moaning and be lucky they're not still slaves I suppose?

yeah.. the problem with the horses was due to the rowdy kidz in the tent...

people shouldn't jump to racist conclusions, most took it light hearted and wanted photo's.

The difference is that Dutch people haven't been called 'horses' in the past as a racist taunt. Ugly Liverpudlians haven't been called Disney characters names, the Welsh aren't known for being serpent like and the Portuguese aren't insulted by being referred to as women, historically. Black people, however, have a history of being referred to as monkeys and find it offensive (it still happens in Europe now, with monkey chants aimed at black players). Anyone who can't see the difference is a moron. I'm not saying that was the intent of the suit, but that was end result. Maybe not intentionally racist, but unintentionally for sure.
