Spurs’ new stadium

It's confirmed on the OS so the club must have agreed. Perhaps the FA were going to deduct points if the club didn't agree eh.

You are right, it is confirmed on the OS. Then, it doesn’t make sense for the club to be concerned now.

The train ticket I booked for this game was £43, bargain I thought! That was until this bunch of bleeding amateurs couldn't finish the stadium anywhere near on time. I now can't make the Monday night so £43 up the swanee, and the best offer of compo is a free 8-10 hour bus journey without a beer, yet again the fans are the last to be considered, I can't say I'm surprised though.

It's a piss-take mate. And not just from Spurs either. Must say I'm very disappointed with City for agreeing to this. For starters, it can't be ideal for the players playing on that pitch, but more importantly, for those fans like yourself who have booked train tickets based on the announcement that this game would be live on Sky on the Sunday at 4pm only to find that it has been rearranged through no fault of the club is an utter disgrace. The offer of free coach travel in no way compensates those who are out of pocket in terms of money shelled out for the train. Not to mention that it's not much use to those fans who don't live locally either.

Also, going off the last time the club laid on free coaches - to Palace in 2015 - there's no guarantee they'll even arrive on time. Add in the fact that it'll be a dry coach and it'll take fucking ages getting off the Wembley car park afterwards, it's got all the makings of one of the shittiest away days ever.

Irrespective of the mess concerning the supporters, when the referee looks at the pitch after the NFL game, is he going to judge its suitability, by PREMIER LEAGUE standards ie the duty of the home team to prepare a suitable playing surface & also the potential risk to players, or is he going to just play it anyway, to avoid further difficulties ?

Imo City should make a stand on this.

If the pitch is poor, refuse to play. It is a handicap which Utd, Liverpool etc will not have, in the same fixture. Why should we be handicapped by a pitch that is difficult for football ?

Plus Spurs are a team who will benefit fom that hugely, if it happens. They can play aerial ball to Kane etc & press mistakes out of us at the back.

We should flat refuse an unsuitable pitch & if necessary take it to court.

Would that inconvenience fans even more?

It's a mess, but the club have agreed to it, so must have been given guarantees.

Of course whether they're firm guarantees or Levy guarantees is a different question.

No consideration given to the away supporters and players who will be risking injury. The Premier League and the FA have missed an opportunity to show a duty of care. West Ham, Arsenal and Chelsea all playing away that weekend. Premier League and FA should have ordered the game to be played on the Sunday at one of the grounds with all the gate receipts payable to the designated club.

Thing is Pep will be all nice pre spurs game away. If it was one of the moaning ****s managers he’s be moaning now and wouldn’t stop till he got his way. Plus with Gill dirty mits in to everything no surprise we have no option! Behind the scenes city might be having a right go at the fa/premier league and be telling them it’s a disgrace but city are to classy to say anything in public.

Sometimes we should put our head up and kick off, this is one of those occasions where 99% of football fans would back us....well maybe not quite that many unless you ignore spurs, dipper & rag fans.

Reckon raggies will back us now. Their home game with Everton has been put back a day so that's a lot of train journeys from Euston up the swannee as well.

Totally avoidable all this.

Also noted in Spurs' press release that the date is now fixed to "enable fans to arrange travel".

City are seriously concerned about what state the Wembley pitch will be in when they play Tottenham, with the rescheduled match taking place 24 hours after an NFL game. The delay also means City may have to play 3 games in 6 days (Spurs, Carabao Cup R4, Southampton). [Daily Mail]

If this is the case, then we must say no.
Why? Apart from our fans who are been fucked about mindlessly what can we complain about. When else do we play the game? If the pitch is not playable the game will be called off. Probably it will be a bit difficult but it is the same for both teams and will may help us more than Spurs. The Carabao game is a bit of a pain but we can field an entirely different team and probably still win assuming of course we actually get to the next round. Again sorry for our fans but no complaints otherwise it is what it is.

Whose fault is it that the game will be played on a piss poor pitch? Why should City or spurs chance a bad injury? It’s a disgrace.

1 club, 1 stadium. That's the rule. For some good reason.
Spurs were allowed to break the rule, for err.. financial reasons.

Spurs were allowed to start a season without a home ground.
Spurs were allowed to start a season without a home ground.
Spurs were allowed to start a season without a home ground, as absurd as it sounds.

100% responsible for this situation - and as it seems it will go on like that into 2019 -
is Richard Scudamore, PL Executive Chairman, would be my guess.

What does he say about his decision?

What really irks me is that Spurs must've known the stadium wouldn't be ready and instead led the Premier League a merry dance over what was going on. Fans should be compensated and shouldn't be out of pocket over this and Spurs deserve to be fined or even have points deducted. At the end of the day, they're breaking Premier League rules.

City have no legal (or moral) obligation on this but I cannot feel that they are missing a trick.
If they refunded anyone who booked a train ticket to Euston between the match being announced by Sky and then Spurs making the stadium announcement (and who had a seasoncard number), they would be refunding, what, 500 people tops?
Cant see how that could have come to more than £30k.
The free coach down is a nice gesture but it is of no use to the person who now cannot make the Monday.

Does seem a strange thing to diminish goodwill of the most loyal supporters.

My ire is more with Spurs, however, but I suppose Levy would't want to chip in as he has irate supporters who have been severely put out and would want similar treatment.

On a slightly different note - says a lot about the league that the United/Everton match has been shifted as well.
What sort of league disturbs 4 sets of fans when one match has to be postponed?

It's not a matter of legal (or moral) requirement or what the relative ££ amount could be ... it's a dangerous precedence to set ... they do it once, then they're bad for not doing it the next time ... and we all know this ain't the first time (nor the last) that a fixture is being changed for whatever reason after being confirmed already ...

Wait till we draw a team in LeagueCup R4 (if we beat Oxford United first of course) that CAN play on the Thursday then we'd be moving that Southampton game a day later to the Sunday ... or if we draw one of the big boys with CL game next Tuesday, who can't move their weekend fixtures then we'd be playing Wednesday ...

This is what pisses me the biggest about this scenario, we'd be having to play Monday and Wednesday (which obviously be a weakened and heavily rotated team) thus hindering out chances in the first trophy of the season ...

I hear you and don't disagree with you.
The PL rules are not sufficient. Under no situation on the EPL rules are City or the fans made whole for another party's error. The most viable solution for the whole weekend was to play at London stadium imho.
