Could they play it at the new ground with no fans or do you need a safety certicate for an actually game to be played?

I've seen £3m bandied about but it might not be correct.
So the rumours of a European transfer for Danny Rose makes sense, 4/5/6 games at Wembley at £3mil each would be covered by some incoming transfer funds. I don't give two hoots really, I wonder what the real problem is though, must be construction related.

From what I've read, I would think the opposite, Spurs themselves aren't confident enough to confirm it yet and they will presumably come under increasing pressure to.

To be fair, what you've read is unlikely to be especially well informed. With respect, I have followed this stadium build in great detail, every step of the way. I know for a fact that, until last week, everyone at Spurs absolutely expected the Liverpool game to go ahead at the new stadium. It was only the issues highlighted by the test event that put a halt to that.

Having suffered this little embarrassment, Spurs are understandably reluctant to preempt any subsequent decision to gain the necessary certificates by announcing when, exactly, the stadium will open. But, as I said, I will be very surprised if it isn't ready come 28th October.

It's ten weeks to go! If it's just bits of paper that are missing then ten weeks should be enough time to get it sorted, even in the hazy, crazy world of H&S!

I'm sure you've followed it closer than me but as of Monday evening you didn't think there would be any delay. It would be fairly typical for the contractor to not be entirely honest with Spurs about delays until they become inevitable.

You are Daniel Levy and I claim my £5!

What is it that you think you see there that makes my comment "horseshit"?

The only thing missing from that west facade is the final layer of perforated aluminium veil cladding (the framework of which is in the process of being installed) and a few more sections of the eaves. The open areas that you see are meant to be open (though they will be covered by the veil) because they contain only plant. The perforated cladding will allow airflow and enable cooling.

Same goes for the other three facades to varying degrees. Very little of the remaining exterior work is critical. Not all of it is required to have reached completion in order for interim safety certificates to be issued. Likewise the roof. Nigh on completed. Likewise the stadium bowl. Just 20% or so of seating to be installed (they can install 5K seats a day if necessary) and the turf to be laid (a 3 day job, max). Even work on public areas around the stadium is well advanced.

Still a fair bit to do internally. That was always likely to be the biggest concern. Even so, internal fit out can, and usually does, come together amazingly quickly as the deadline draws near. No doubt that there would have been some non-critical elements of the stadium unfinished by 15th September but the stadium would have been safe and useable were it not for the issue highlighted by the test event.
