Spurs 2018/19

Indeed. Although it wasn't actually a headbutt. He deliberately stopped short of Azpilacueta. Nevertheless that sort of thing has sometimes been deemed sufficiently aggressive to be red card worthy in the past. So Kane definitely got lucky. Silly to have risked it.

By contrast, though, the Hazard elbow / forearm smash on Trippier most definitely did make contact. No punishment for that either. Nor any subsequent media coverage. So, contrary to the original claim, it's not just Kane or Spurs who get away with these things.

The common denominator is Andre Marriner. He's blind, you know.

A disappointing night. We were well beaten.

But to say we are bottling it is silly. What about the 17 teams below Spurs? What are they doing? They must have a whole bottling factory by your bottling standards.
It's the media narrative, and to the shame of some on here they've fucking fallen for it. After all the shit we've taken over the years you'd think our fans would be well versed in the media bollocks.

I think Spurs have done well up to now to stay with the pace, but they just don't have Liverpool's ridiculous run of luck with injuries and decisions, or our money/manager.

Why so shit?

Or players.

Whereas the ref saw Mario not stamp on Scotty Parker, but changed his mind, when told to do so by the FA.

And don’t say he didn’t see the incident; he was looking straight at it.

As to Balotelli, you have proof of that? As to yesterday, yes, the ref was looking at it....but from behind Kane so might not have seen what really happened. He was looking right at the Hazard elbow on Trippier too and apparently didn't see that either. Nor have the media. But I can't see any complaints about it in the Chelsea thread. Just because it's Kane and Spurs?

As we saw last season at the Etihad, when both he and Deli Alley were merely booked for red card "tackles".

And sergio not elbowing someone, mariner changing his match report
The 4th official sending delph off
Walker sent of for a non elbow
Raz sent off for celebrating with fans(2nd yellow)
Spurs players leg breaking tackles on ours(kane and ali) nothing
Refs can manipulate whatever they want
No ref will ever send kane off

Listen, I won't deny that Spurs have got away with a few over the past few seasons. Most clubs probably have. But we've also been on the receiving end of a few (e.g. the tackle on Kane in the Utd game that caused him to miss 7 games) and we've also had players sent off who shouldn't have been. It happens.

Hey, the one thing they have going for them........they're not Arsenal.

His team had plenty of time to change the game in their favour. It was a tight call and he's just moaning
because they fucking lost.

I'm not sure that you watched it properly, mate. Poch went to shake hands with the officials and was walking away when Dean said something that made him and all his management team wheel round in fury. Whatever it was, it must have been a pretty scummy thing to say to have riled all of them like that so instantaneously. That's what caused the subsequent scenes. Not the corner decision.

And at least Poch had the balls and grace to apologise publicly for losing control like that and to accept that his reaction was unacceptable - however much he might have been provoked. I can't think of any other manager who has been so big in such circumstances. That he also passed on the opportunity to justifiably spill the beans on what Dean said further shows him in a good light, IMO.

Ashley Young wiping out sergio so badly he had to have knee surgery,in the box no pen
Last season kane and ali leg breakers,in total we had 10/11 leg breakers on us and not a single player sent off some not even a carded but we somehow have a lot of reds against us and i don't think we are a dirty team,we have 70-80% possession but somehow have more cards than the other side,it's mind boggling what the refs do to us
Back to kane he will never get sent off,if one of ours had done to him what he did yesterday every media outlet would make sure our players got a lengthy ban

@JimB Is their any info for your plans for the summer, player purchase wise. I really think you are at the hard limit of what your current squad can do with investment pretty much the only remedy. Asking for Poch to do it again next season and suddenly you are Arsenal in Wengers final 12 or so years. It would be reckless in my humble opinion.

For the health of the top end staying strong in general i think you have to find the cash from somewhere, let alone for your own ambitions as a club.

Yep. Agreed. Really feels now as though this team has gone as far as it can. Not quite good enough in certain positions. Need a bit more depth and a lot more quality. Think we might lose Eriksen in the summer too, which will obviously be huge shoes to fill. We will need considerable midfield reinforcement. Dembele's body was broken so he's gone; Wanyama was brilliant in his first season but has spent two years injured and is no longer the same player; Winks, Dier and now Sissoko (amazingly) are all decent but not title winning material. Above all, we lack creativity in the final third - especially if Eriksen goes. Oh for another Modric!

Midfield and full backs are areas where we most need upgrades. And we'll definitely spend this coming summer. Quite a lot by our standards, I reckon, though much of it is likely to be recouped by the sale of unwanted players - and Eriksen, alas. This season was something of an anomaly what with the early close to the transfer window last summer. The consequent inability to get players off the books put paid to any hoped for incoming transfers. In January, none of the players that Poch wanted were available.

Winks is still youngish. Thinks he has more time to improve further. Needs some decent cover around him.
