I see rumours (reat for the hard of hearing; RUMOURS) of the new Spurs stadium is going to be called The Nike Stadium, although Levy is denying that any deal has been agreed.

Wrong it will be called the Harry Kane stadium since his imminent sale will pay off some of the debt

I don't know if you listen to today fm on a Saturday afternoon. For the last 2 seasons it has been a dipper wankfest. 2 weeks ago were away to Bournemouth and the rags are home to Southampton.Since when did the fight for top4 beat the race for the title and considering there was more a chance of an upset at our game. Disgraceful bias.Anyway I'm sure whoever has first pick on the night will go for rags or dippers
Wouldn't bother with today FM.

Catalan newspaper Sport have some quotes from Pochettino about Lionel Messi from the launch of youth football tournament in the Costa Brava.

“I always say it, Barça has great players and then a genius,” Pochettino said. “The squad are excellent footballers, extraordinary, but Leo appears and does things that nobody expects and continues to surprise, the continuity of so many years, being able to change things. What luck to have seen him, I have not had the luck of having him in my team and winning so many titles… I don’t have any.”

Such a pathetic little chipmunk, he should try impressing someone outside the English media or even winning a trophy (no Messi in this country after all) and he might get a shot at a club with more resources then.

He’s a proper slapped arse.

Yep, Levy squashed the Nike rumour in a recent meeting with the supporters trust. Said that sponsoring stadiums is not what Nike does.

Wasn't he whining off the record earlier in the year that they were getting low offers for the naming rights? News flash Daniel, it's still WHL and you're not that well known outside the UK.

I'm not aware of Levy having complained about low offers for the naming rights. As far as I know, all he's ever said, is that a deal hasn't yet been signed.

After having a taster of an all-English CL tie last season, I actually think they add spice to the occasion. There's plenty of things I'd rather forget about the first leg at Anfield last season but there was a definite edge to it, as there was to the 2nd leg when even though we were 3 down the fans were bang up for it in a way over and above what I'd expect even if it was against one of the top continental sides. Unless one of us is out of sight after the first game, I can see both legs having a bouncing atmosphere

Fair enough - although it's fair to say that the events on the night of that first leg probably contributed to the atmosphere at the second leg.

Will be interesting to see what sort of atmosphere can be generated at the new stadium. Better than Wembley, at least, I hope.

Not sure if its been posted before, but looking at stats for the season thus far (not just spuds) and i was wondering why we get so much flak for not selling out (emptyhad jibe). Tottenhams lowest attendance at wembley this season in the prem is less than 30k against watford, wednesday night in january, why is that? The so called big games are 80k so why the massive difference...... Glory Glory (hunting) Tottenham Hotspur?

I think it's a given that it will be better than Wembley for atmosphere. As spectacular as the new stadium looks, they've also taken atmosphere into account and that huge single-tier end is a great move in that respect.

What a waste of fucking time. And money.£15 mill on renaming a station?

Unless I'm missing something here surely everyone knows that White Hart Lane = Spurs, like everyone knew that Upton Park was the Boleyn.

If you read the story, TfL asked for £15m and Tottenham refused. Instead there will apparently be "a unique brand partnership between TfL and Tottenham Hotspur that will benefit both". Your guess is as good as mine as to what that might mean but it sounds like a capitulation on TfL's part.

As to why the name change might be desirable to Spurs, it's all to do with dissociating the area from the name White Hart Lane in order to maximise the stadium naming rights value. The section of the actual road White Hart Lane that is nearest to the stadium (between the station and the High Road) is also due to be changed.

Spurs are good for the local economy. Making it easier for less well informed supporters and tourists to find the stadium is sensible.

Also the new WHL will an important American football venue. And those supporters may not be as well educated as you.

There is also a precedent here....
