Spurs (A) | EFL Cup | Post Match Thread

Somehow just got to get through these 3 away games, I’d take 4 points in the 2 league games and a point at Sporting if it was offered now.

Hopefully Erl can pull us through it.

The problem we are having is we are still continuing to do what we do with the high press and very high backline, In which most cases we are able to play this way and get out of trouble with Kyle Walkers pace, Overall we lack pace at the back and it's notable in the absence of Walker, With Rodri being out also reading the game and winning back possession to stop counter attacks isn't helping either unfortunately.

Injuries have been a killer for us.

Pep could go back to playing Akanji in the right back position again.
As long as Akanji is fit to play.

The one by the touch line? He looked to be holding his upper thigh/groin area. He had treatment and carried on, so hopefully……?
Yeah, he was fouled by the Spurs player on the touchline. Hopefully just a dead leg.

Injuries are a concern but not arsed about the results. All the kids did really well.

Fuck off Spurs. Hanging on against a side with 5 players under the age of 21
Barcelona vs Madrid 2 at the age of 17, 3 at the age of 21, same vs Munich, so that‘s not the reason. The „kids“ were great tonight.

I thought O'Reilly had a great 2nd half. Way more proactive with the ball and stronger.

Wright and Simpson-Pusey both very positive too.

Foden and Gundo looked miles off it at times, especially Phil. But he hasn't played that false 9 often. McAtee was quiet and might have more joy on RW.

Pep needs to explain the risks
He took tonight. Absolutely mental with the injury situation
I’ll get him to give you a call later….

Ffs this place at times !

Rico shit, Pep shit, kids not good enough. Gundogan shite even though he’s being forced to play due to other injuries.

Fucking madness on here lately.

The goals were terrible and avoidable with their players being given the freedom of the park. Caught out far too many times again on speedy transitions and our defence seemingly awol.
The positives are
1. We’re out of a completion we don’t need to be in.
2. We ended with 5 academy players on the pitch and bar McAtee they all had encouraging games.
3. Nunes continues to shine.

But we need to have a chat about Gundogan who had his worst ever game for us tonight. He’s been bang average at best since coming back. What’s going on there? When we’ve sorted him out we need to turn our thoughts to Phil Foden. He’s heading the same way as Gundo. :-(
Anyway, up the Blues!

He’s. Playing. Games. He. Shouldn’t. Due. To. Injured. Players.

Didn't feel much like joining in with the Erling chuckling tbh - our first loss of the season but my sense of foreboding maybe premature if the injuries tonight turn out not too serious and some of the others get off their sickbeds soon.

The amount of games these players have played over the last 2 seasons is why we are where we are!

They have been flogged to death, internationally and domestically.

As a club we know because of our quality we are going to go usually deep in all comps.

But yet we persist with a small squad and playing the same players most weeks.

I've said it before but the competition we have failed miserably the most in for the last couple of years, is the transfer market. We've rested on our laurels for so long now and the writing is finally on the wall.

This season will be one season too far. We can't rely on re signing old players just to get bodies in the door.

Hahaha ffs fella

Pep doesn't owe anybody an explanation as to the team he picked tonight!

Do you want him to Whatsapp you personally?

In that way, He will also explain to you how we won a Treble and 4 consecutive League Titles.
