Spurs (A) | FA Cup | Post Match Thread

I still don’t think bobbs goal was off side . From the first angle it looked like spuds player’s hand kept him on but the lines was drawn from another perspective and focused on his toe.

The problem really is that the offside rule is currently shite. People are technically offside in situations that are very difficult for an Assistant Referee to rule on and VAR has to get out a micrometer. It’s a joke. If Bobb had been a few millimetres back, he still would have scored.

The offside rule needs to change. They need to go back to there being daylight between the players.

That never was the rule, just some pundit's pre-VAR idea, and no easier for the assistant referee to get right. The only change in over 100 years was that level was onside rather than offside (and making clear that hands and arms don't count).

No advantage rule now to the attacking team.
Stupid rule now.Take ages now to come to a decision to rule out for being centimetars offside.

Fantastic game and result. Commentator said KDB's miss was out 100th attempt on goal at their new stadium without a goal. Amazing stat if true.
Anyway thank you Nathan for that goal, I wasn't looking forward to a replay to clog up our calendar. It was a great game which we controlled with ease.
Our passing is so clinical and we took over another away game against a top opponent. Special mention for Kova, his best game yet, he's been getting more and more into our way of playing and this was a superb performance.

Well done Pep & the boys !!!
Bill not sure what channel you were watching it on but on Itv Ally McCoist and his sidekick said exactly the same. Next minute , bang.

Multiple checkpoints to get in, forced bottle necks in and out. An absolute shambles. Still, it looks shiny.

They stewards had no clue as to what gates etc we should use
We were meant to use Gate 7 but that was in middle of Spurs section
Luckily left in plenty time buy by god I needed a slash

Totally agree, if you need to scrutinise an offside with the lines then it should be advantage to the goal scorer, I’m yet to be convinced that a few millimetres gives a player any kind of advantage.

What about night matches though?

He's evidently a very good defender & is pretty accomplished with the ball at his feet, but I still think Left Back is a position I'd prefer a specialist player at.

We bought Gomez as a converted midfielder to fulfil that role. Reports suggest there's firm interest in him this window & he wanted to explore a move whether on loan or permanently, but Pep persuaded him to remain.

Does Pep see Sergio as a long-term solution to our LB conundrum? He's another player (like Philips) where it's painful seeing him sat on the bench getting splinters in his arse, game after game.
Pep loves versatile back ups. Gomez can play in 4 or 5 different roles, if needed, hence his value.

He’ll only play in an emergency or if we get a minnow in the cup.

As of now I don’t know how they interpret the rules but one thing for sure it has taken the wind out of this beautiful game.
