Spurs (A) | PL | Post Match Thread

This is so right. When we could have really put them to the sword, we play walking football. Was screaming then, that we would pay for it. To see the weak pathetic mentality of this team and management after the last decade is hard to take. Don’t expect to win everything, but basic desire in a football game is a must and fans deserve better.
But we will get the usual empty words from the manager and players. Just so sad.
And then they expect us to pay money to watch it.
The way the club have treated season ticket holders this season, not only the new stand will be empty, pretty much the whole stadium will be. gutted.
It's hard to change the mentality from a possession and positional based team to going for it whenever you smell blood. We all knew second half would be very different and we'd struggle... Players or Pep didn't seem to care though, coasted to a 2 goal lead v woeful Spuds....we looked like we'd be happy going in at the break level... The game is sort of heavy metal football now, you need athletes all over the pitch who can man mark and run like Bernie, and end up in any of the 10 positions outfield,,,, we haven't got that memo and we are suffering tactically. In 10 years Pep's been here physiques and fitness have changed - meaning a lot of our opponents have 6 foot plus brick shit houses can run like 60 m dash champions and also cover every blade of grass of 90 mins... makes our slow manipulating of the play and trying get players the ball between the lines null and void. Our players are man marked now wherever they go, so 'no in between the lines' to find

The problem is if that game (and most of ours) were officiated fairly there would be no uptick in tempo from the opposition. Cute officiating to keep sides in the game that have all but thrown the towel in, allows them to keep skin in the game and achieve moments of change whilst our competitors are allowed to coast to victory in that type of encounter.

In my eyes the league has been more blatant than ever this season with implementing a narrative to allow teams to build rhythm and opportunities against us. Then whenever a goal goes in against us where VAR should step in, it doesn’t. Goal given, mission accomplished, renewed belief and the game has changed. Rinse and repeat.

Make no mistakes, we haven’t been great in second halves, however, our drop off in the second 45 of games is just as much a circumstance of game management from the refs as it is our own making. Often these changes in a games flow would not have happened without “help”.

I think the charges/court case has written off this season. And I think it is intentional.

Why haven’t I seen any lines confirming the offside from VAR!?

The fuck is going on…

Next - foul all fucking day.

This is a bent league - fuck em

Goalkeeper and defence are fine. Thought Don, Guehi and Khusanov were all fantastic. Nunes was steady too.

Midfield is OK too with Bernie, Rodri and NOR providing steel, composure and attacking ability.

The attack, however, being spearheaded by the elephant in the room sets a dreadful tone for the rest of the side IMO.

There are no positives to take from that game none. Donnaruma spared our blushes but we are a spineless side. Very average squad and a manager who has lost his way/passion. Either he’s the issue or the fortune we’ve spent has still left us with players who aren’t good enough

Not sure I have any confidence left in Pep Guardiola to get a tune out of this side, unacceptable to lose a 2-0 lead in a must win game.

Frankly bored with it all now, there is little hope we’ll ever sustain a run of wins or good performances, or even play a solid 90 minutes in one game.

Absolutely atrocious. All been said already. Lost it in the first half. Neville said it right. It was like watching Soccer Aid. Why oh why didn’t we just go for the throat and put 4/5/6 past these and then relax. Not one bit of urgency in the whole team. Could have easily got beat there. That was a bad one.

O Reilly not good enough in the midfield. Somenja had a shocker apart from the goal, How Foden can’t get in this team is beyond me. Brings him on with 5?mins to go.
Just fuck off
