It was a clear foul. We got bad decisions yesterday.

However, it feels like the club has been infected with this victim mentality. Always complaining about referees and injuries and how unfair it is. Complaining about too many games, Pep complaining that players aren't back from injury yet, complaining that 30+ year old players that have been injury prone their entire careers are still injury prone.

In the past, Pep would have said "if you don't referee us fairly we'll win against 12".

We were fucking shit yesterday, if we had scraped together even a 5/10 performance, we'd have been 3/4-0 up by half time and there would have been nothing the referees could fucking do. If we'd reacted after the first goal and started actually playing football, we'd have won the game comfortably, there'd be nothing the referee could do.

All we hear out of the club is complaining now.

It doesn't matter that it's true we've had some shit decisions against us. Whining about it isn't going to change anything. If we played at our best and Spurs we equal to it and then we got fucked by the refereeing decisions, that's one thing, but lumping it all on referees when you don't turn up and do your own job isn't going to earn any sympathy.

The mentality that saw us win all those trophies has totally gone.

No i think it needed to be said. Var is supposed to be there to ensure the decisions that have cost us in the last few games don't happen. Instead var is now almost pointless, because when they don't give something that nine out of ten times they give in other games and then excuse it by saying it's subjective they may as well not have it. Var decisions shouldn't be subjective they should be clear cut. That's why it was brought in.
For me it's obviously being used to manipulate games. It didn't work for quite a while regarding ourselves because we were so good, something Pep also often mentions. Now we've dropped a couple of levels it's having a big impact. I know it's last season but the decision not to send Henderson off in the cup final was outrageous. It cost us the cup. If he doesn't handball it Haaland probably scores. However he did, he didn't and Henderson should have walked. The ref missed it but var didn't, it was as clear as day. Blatant cheating. He then went on to put in a man of the match performance when he should have been sitting in the stands.
I agree about yesterday we were dreadful but in that first half Spurs were worse and somehow we were 2-0 up. It was infuriating watching us stroll about when we should have finished them off when they were on the ropes. At tines we actually stood still on the ball! Deep down we just knew it would come back to bite us and boy did it. We were actually lucky we didn't lose the game.
Our mentality is as weak as fuck, incredible considering how strong it used to be.

The boss needs a break. I would do something completely left field and give him the rest of the season off. Come back fresh to commit another 4 years. It’s not realistic tho, so what can we do?

Leave him to it or make the change? No option is ideal based on the last few seasons. Lots of issues with the team regarding injuries, new players. The teams in the league have evolved their playing style while city is a mixed bag of possession and counter depending on who we play. It never used to be like that.

Only those more informed inside the club will have an idea as to what is needed. Khaldoon will stick with pep for as long as possible. Maybe this period will be looked back on as a painful transition to another successful pep era? Maybe it is the end.

I don’t know but I don’t like how we play now. It’s not the level of excellence pep previously demanded.

I don't understand why this pattern of good for 45mins then shite for 45 has set in. It's clear as daylight what's happening but reoccurs.We're not responding to any increase in tempo from the opposition, it's bizarre. It's almost like the team's thinking job done when it clearly isn't. Lack of character in this team atm, with a few players needing to buck the eff up.
As for VAR, I said last week it was like one major decision a game was affecting us as well and that continued yesterday.

We were 5-1 up against Fulham and ended up hanging on, 2-0 against Leeds and need an injury time winner to get the 3 points, but if you're happy with that, don't see any issues and are confident that the return of Dias will fix all our problems, clap away.

To be happening on such a regular basis is indeed worrying, and one which Pep and coaches need to address, although I am sure they are already concerned about.

Possibly the injury situation is actually impacting more than the club are revealing, but it is very unlike City to dbe displaying such a drop off.

But, if Pep was really focusing on Wednesday's match, why did he not make his subs earlier and use all 5 of them ?
Rodri was a ticking time-bomb after his earylish yellow card. He looked tired and frustrated, perhaps bring fortunate not to get a second yellow. Yet when, eventually, did Pep take him off ?
Spurs were on top immediately, in the second half. But, when did Pep make his first substitution ?
Foden & Marmoush each came on for literally, a few minutes. It was far too late and the game had gone by then...

I thought we started the game pretty well. I even thought that Pep had decided to go with a 4-4-2 (with Haaland and Semenyo up top). I even thought that he'd told them to up the tempo of our play and move the ball forward quicker with more intent. Fulham away showed that even being 4 goals up in the 2nd half of a game isn’t safe.

The squad is rotten and the management stale. Bitching about the ref is all they have left.

Some very reasonable points made there but the frequency of VAR decisions in recent games is off the scale.

Off the top of my head, Newcastle away the penalty and the offside, Dalot red card in the derby, non penalty on Gvardiol at sunderland, disallowed goal Newcastle in the League Cup, on top of yesterday's. As well as game changing decision in the Cup Final last year.

I'm pissed off with it so can understand the players being so.

We aren't as good as we were, so we can't override these things at present. But we shouldn't need to be.

In the Match Thread at HT I said that we needed to keep going and take the ref out of the equasion. Unfortunately we couldn't, and the ref then became a big factor.

I genuinely don't think the calibre of players exist to replace those that we have lost in recent seasons. We were very lucky to have had them. However, there may well have been better players around in contrast to some of those we've signed. Regardless of that though, it's disappointing to see some of the performances of quite a few within the squad. They should be doing a fair bit better.

You are probably correct and I do think we have dropped the ball somewhat when it comes to transfers and yes some of the talent and drive we have had put us on another level to much of the competition who have in some cases caught up while we have regressed and to some extent are victims of keeping an incredible squad in the main for too long.

The criticism of refs unfortunately are very relevent in most of our games.
