Spurs (A) - Post-Match Thread

Supporting shouldn’t mean being uncritical. If that’s your bag, so be it. Accept your station If it makes you happy.

When we employ “the best manager in the world” and spend multi millions, it’s hardly surprising that some people have higher aspirations. So yes, they will complain when being served mediocre fare.

To associate that intentionally with hooligans and abusing players from the stands is a bit rich. If it was unintentional, what exactly is your point?
I've been critical at times - we all have over the years. We've just had a few years of the greatest football in Prem history - against a background of 16 billionaire/multibillionaire Prem owners. We ain't going to have it all our own way indefinitely. The team in its various incarnations in the last 10 years, has given us more than we dreamed of. Now we ain't winning as often - we're gassed out out having had no break. Hardly a cause to turn on the team and Pep. If that's what floats anyone's boat, so be it. The team that deserves to be slagged off by its fans is the one that spends unreal amounts year in, year out, plays miserable football and wins f*ck all - and plays in red. Slagging our team off in these circumstances makes us all look like a bunch of spoilt twats.

What good work did he do?

Pass side ways a lot? Pass sideways some more?

He has no influence on the game the way Fernandinho did.

He doesn't influence attacking play, nor does he protect the back line.
It’s difficult to protect the back line on his own!! He’s alongside Bernardo and KDB, for their quality neither are really renowned for snuffing out attacks!

He obviously lacks the mobility of Fernandinho, but we’re always focusing on what he can’t do, today his strengths looked fairly evident - had the ball under pressure a lot today and very rarely gave it away, was so strong in possession. His passing was intelligent, to say it was always sideways simply isn’t true. Did some good defensive work regaining the ball for us in important areas, won everything aerially.

said it during the match, the decline in this team beggars belief, how can we go from where we were at to this shamblwe said it too

We said it too. I've only ever seen this happen when players don't want to play for the manager. I sincerely hope that isn't the case.

You being a cretin thinks anyone with a different viewpoint to you is a cretin or wasn't at Barcelona or Spurs when Hart on his debut saved us.
Ederson is poor at one on ones, end of
100% Ederson isn't a starter for Brazil because of this reason, attacking & distribution
1st class shot stopper 8 out 10 he aint saving whereas Alison does

How many 1st counter attacks does Ederson pick out of his net?? More then 90%

If you did a montage of the last 18 months & the 1st season under Pep you would see we are allover the place when defending the counter, we give goal after goal away its embarrassing

Teams not laugh at us, high line, Ederson out of his comfort zone & beaton with ease, what the fuck he even got chipped last season from 40 yards?

Tough defeat to take but I have reconciled myself were in a period of transition and I am not sure whether the problems will take weeks/months/years to rectify.

it has been such a fantastic period, these last couple of years, it was inevitable maintaining those standards was going to be a very tough ask.

Losing the spine of the side, Zabba, Yaya, Silva, Kompany has finally, coupled with a bit of poor recruitment, has caught up with us. We need new leaders to come to fore, other players to develop and the side to evolve once again.

I have seen enough to know Torres and Dias will prove to be great buys and coupled with the likes of De Bruyne, Laporte, Foden, Sterling the nucleus is there for another period of success. Were not a million miles away, just need a tweak here and there
Great post. Replacing Yaya, Vinnie, Zaba, David & Aguero for what they gave us is going to take time. Vinnie is the big loss, he always had a presence and we have lacked that since he left. David this season is a massive loss, he was perfect against sides that parked the bus. I still think Foden is the man for his job, just wish Pep would take the leash off him.

I can still see us getting a top three finish, some time soon it will click again, hopefully at home next week to Burnley it clicks. If we get a early goal there anything could happen.

Fernandinho did it.

Instead of going for someone similar we went for someone who would stand out in La Liga.

He's too slow and his nice passing doesn't make up for his lack of pace, he doesn't control midfield and in this team with a high line is continually outrun from midfield.

And today was against a team that allowed him to have the ball. Against a team that presses he is even worse.
