Spurs (A) | Post-Match Thread

Can't say I'm surprised. We can't afford to give teams a 10 point start like last season so things need to change quickly.

There simply must be a better left back within the academy than Mendy. I was embarrased for him today. He has to be the worst pound for pound signing in our history and should be nowhere near the first team ever again.
 
Anyone who mentions not fit, not ready or whatever can fuck off. Badly managed if any of it is true.

Why the fuck have we not got rid of the shit in our squad.

I'd rather play an unfit good player than an unfit shit player.
 
Poor from Guardiola. He needs to find then right formula for this team which is going to mean leaving one or two of his favourites on the bench.

Gundogan and Fernandinho very poor in CM as well as the 2 FBs. Sterling didn't do much and neither did Mahrez. Grealish our best player though KDB looked good when he came on. Very little creative play meant Torres didn't get much of a glimpse of goal but he made plenty of good runs.

Need to go back to 3 CMs and control games. Never really had control of this one and too many forced and sloppy passes rather than our usual patient, simple build-up play.

Poor start but plenty of scope to improve.

I would pay for a quality Left back and sell fringe players if needs be. The only potential weakness above could be Rodri, its this year or bust for him.

Every time Mendy plays I back the opposition to win. Like taking candy off a baby, 11/2 tottingham were at home..i would rather lose money and we win but he is by far the worst player I've ever seen in a city shirt and I've been supporting since 1968.we may have had equally bad players but at least they've tried.
 
Ake, Mendy, Torres, Ferna, Sterling and maybe Cancelo all gonna be part of the second string this season id have thought. put it down to that

Thought Grealish looked brilliant and seemed to run about a lot more than i ever have for villa or england.

hopefully we can move some players on in the forward line if Kane comes - too bloated currently

spurs are lucky cunts they get to play us at this point in the season

Sterling doesn't deserve to be anywhere near our starting 11.
 
Pep tries this plan too often - go at them for the first 15 mins and hope we score and then slow it down and try to walk it in. Waste of fucking time if we don't score early on.

Mendy is beyond shit, gives the ball away too often and gets caught out of position. Ederson should be saving that goal too.

Grealish did well, about the only bright spot. I guess Kane's fee will be closer to £200m now.
 
We have some tough away games coming up : Leicester Chelsea and Dippers. Unless we sort the shit out soon, we will be left too behind and it won't be enough like last season the come back.

Today's match was not something we haven't seen. Script has been same for so many matches since 2019-20 season. Slow laboured performance get hit on counter and then chase the game like idiots and end up nowhere.

All those players minus aguero were played with a different manager. Regardless what people say with the systems etc pep keeps winning trophies for us so it is what it is. Plus it’s only 1game
 
Dreadful. Good start but as usual, scuffed at our chances and then fell out of the match.
Mendy and Cancelo are two appalling defenders, the former must be finished at this club and the latter is a show pony who has no heart or fight for the battle.
I still don't get all the love and stuff for Ederson, he's an average goalkeeper who never wins us any points. I'd give Steffan a run in the team, the lad makes saves at least unlike the lamp post that is Ederson
Ferny was meh...Raz was meh...got bullied by their RB all match
5 defeats in our last 7 competive matches.
Looks like Spurs have won the league today jusding by their lap of honour
 
Lack of creativity was concerning as was the predictability in the way they would score (and who).

No penetration from any of our forwards and midfielders at all...Sterling, Mahrez, Grealish, Torres all inaffective. Gundo no creative passing at all.

Mendy -how are we still relying on him after 4 years of absolute dogshit performances.....there is no defending this guy any more

Mahrez - as per always disappears when the going gets tough (at least Sterling as bad as he was keeps going)

Torres is NOT a centre forward despite Peps protestations that he is the best finisher (he may well be but he does not move like a centre forward)

Dias solid as always, Ferna good in the first half (but he is going to struggle as the season goes on as his fitness cannot carry him through the games)

Cancello - played well at times last season but he is not a team player.

Our style of play seems to have changed...we are crossing from infront of the back 4 instead of getting in behind as we use to with little passes....
 
Torres offers nothing at all. We needed to sign a pacy winger that can beat a man and cross accurately. Someone with a bit of confidence who causes teams trouble.

Mendy is finished, injuries have fucked him up, poor fella.

We absolutely must sign a goal scorer.
 
This is a circus every time we lose... Sure, Pep doesn't know that Ake and Mendy are not made for top opposition. Sure, he doesn't know Sterling is not good in this system. Sure, he doesn't know Cancelo is not enoguh against top 6, or that KDB and Zinchenko need to be starting. Obviously he knows, it just happens that our players are not ready to play.

To be honest, I am not worried at all. We didn't play Zinchenko, Walker, Stones, KDB\, Foden and maybe even Rodri who all would be in our best 11. People who worry and think Pep doesn't know either have no logic, or overreact.
