Its likely we will go against Swansea with a 7 point lead
Makes me a bit more nervous when you put it like that.

But if you say we only need a MAXIMUM of 6 points (5 points if you include GD) from 6 games then we should walk it. Especially if you look at the 5 fixtures after Spurs.

He might have talked about field players, w/o keepers:

Walker, Vinnie, Ota, Laporte, Delph, Zinchenko
Bernardo, KDB, Gündogan, Yaya, David
Raz, Jesus, Sané

Agreed but Yaya and Zinchenko wouldn't start normally if something was riding on the result as such but agreed these two players one would assume are available tomorrow but doubt they will start at least Yaya is highly unlikely to start.

Against Liverpool, we played with incredible intensity in the first half. It is very possible that physically we couldn't keep that up for 90 mins. But I think psychologically we must have been deflated by the disgraceful refereeing - the players are human beings and at some point you can start thinking "they just are not going to let us win".

United is more of a conundrum. We were so vastly superior to them in the 1H. In the 2H, our level did drop off and made rookie defensive mistakes. I don't really buy into the complacency argument that some have offered: this is a derby after all; our two most senior players played in the QPR game so are well aware it's never over till the final whistle; and all the players know that United came back from 2-0 down just a few weeks earlier at Selhurst Park. I have to put it down to "just one of those things". That said, if Atkinson had had an iota of a conscience we would at minimum have drawn the game.
I agree with the idea we were drained mentally and physically at some point during the Liverpool second leg (however that doesn't cover the first leg collapse) but that doesn't gloss over the mistakes like the one leading to Firmino's goal, that was just a cock up from Walker, of which he's done before.

Against United we had a changed team from mid-week, put in a brilliant first half performance and practically immediately from the restart wen the opposite way; that's not solely down to fatigue and our energy levels dropping at that point like the previous poster said. The team just didn't respond to United's changes, caught at 6s and 7s as they say. Then, after it was too late scoreline wise, and United dropped back again we were done by the ref and as you say, it was just one of those things that the ball wouldn't go in.

But for some to say those teams ONLY played well when and because we were tired is very disingenuous and doesn't do us any favours imo. We're not invincible, we knew that, nobody is, but the analogy I heard this week of us having a glass jaw is annoyingly not that wrong atm in my opinion.

Yes we are certainly in the drivers seat no mater how the weekend games go.

Yaya is highly unlikely to ever start again. Massive waste of resources extending his contract.

Good post and a fair analysis

We need to win, just seen this on Lawro's predictions(not Lawro's words)

Again, I am fascinated to see how City react to going out of the Champions League, and Tottenham are playing very well at the moment. City's season will be in tatters if they lose this game too

I did not realise it was so dire, our season is in tatters!

Goodness knows what they would say if we won nothing.

Eh? We had virtually a fully fit squad a few days ago. Now there are only 14 players left?

WTF happened to the other 11?

Otamendi, not Walker. This time.

We only have 21 and that includes Yaya and Zinchenko so We have Mendy, Aguero, Stones and Fernandinho out not sure who the other 1 or 2 are missing though.

We have 25...the dressing room is exactly the same as the squad on wiki. I know because I did the tour a couple of weeks ago and took a photo :-)

So I’m including the three youngsters.

17 non homegrown 4 homegrown , we don't have any club trained players in the squad, Foden and Diaz aren't in it.

No kun again is a big loss...we are blunt without his threat upfront.
Looks like Mendy aint going to be seen till last coupl of the season....say it all the time but Sane and GJ need to start having bigger and more consitant impacts on games. Flashes of brilliance but neither have prolonged effcts on big games.

Would be happy to come away with a draw but think we will lose....no ferna is a huge loss and there is noone to deputise...play ilky and we will be overrun
