Spurs challenge 2012 stadium decision

its quite obvious why they want it though

they are now a CL club. they have seen how much arsenal have struggled to spend big on their squad these last few years whilst having to pay for the emirates.

they will get a 60k+ seater stadium for no cost at all which they will fill and then can push onto becoming a regular CL side

the difference between selling out WHL and the 2012 Stadium could be as much as 1.5m every home game. massive numbers

cant blame them really. good news for us that west ham got it

It's all about the compo. Anything Spurs do ultimately comes down to money. They showed their colours with Berbatov. Spent weeks moaning about Berbtov being tapped up and threatening to report the rags to the FA. In the end a few extra quid from the rags was enough to buy their silence. The club has the morals of a prostitute.

genitals too.

I don't know the logistics of the area or WHL, but if there's no room for a new stadium in Tottenham, could they have requested to share the Olympic Stadium for a season while the current WHL overgoes a massive renovation?

or why not just share the Olympic Stadium with West Ham permanently?

A) Because they are not from east london
B) Because they are from north london
C) Beacuse they are not from east london

But the most important thing is that Spurs and West Ham hate each other and West Ham dont have to share the stadium that they won fairly and squarly

-- Thu Mar 31, 2011 5:21 pm --

Do you or the fans want to go to the new stadium?

London 2012 stadium looks crap and that's before WHU do what they can to ready it for football.

Most countries build inspiring stadia for the Olympics, but London ends up with this joke. I thought Levy was supposed to be quite a shrewd operator, but the whole proposal looks like bad planning with a few shady footballer owners trying to grasp a questionable asset for free and to hell with what the fans want.

Perhaps you aren't aware of the fact that Tottenham don't want the Olympic Stadium at all?

What we want is the transport infrastucture and location so that we can build a proper purpose-built football stadium on the site, after having demolished the athletics stadium eyesore.

West Ham seem happy enough to play their football in an athletics stadium though.

Almost without exception, whenever this has been tried in the past, it's ended in abject failure.

Thats why Spurs bid fails and will never win in court. Why on earth would the government, olympic commitee and London want to build a £600 million stadium just for 2 weeks and then go, here you are Spurs free land and take away the Olympic stadium that we promised would leave a legacy for the country!

Well for starters, it's not a £600m stadium - that's the cost of the entire Olympic complex.

The stadium itself cost around £80m and was designed to be partly dismantled after the Games were over anyway.

Still doesnt answer why they should betray the legacy so you can have some free land? West Ham have agreed to agree to the legacy probably to there own detrement but its better than tearing the whole thing down for the good of THFC and ultimatly the right decision

Sorry, I had forgotten that. I agree about football in an athletics stadium.

Still don't think Spurs belong outside of Tottenham though.

The 'athletics legacy' is best seved by updating and redevoloping the existing facilities at Crystal Palace, which Spurs have agreed to fund as part of their proposal.

There is no possible use for a 60,000-seater athletics stadium after the Games are over and a 60,000-seater athletics stadium is a wholly inappropriate venue to hold football matches.

This is a pointless argument with you because you a re a spurs fan and if i was you i would feel the same but that doesnt mean the tax payer should pay so you can have free land. Crystal Palace is no legacy mate i live in Crystal Palace its fucking out the way with no good transport links direct to it and is mainly used as a training facility

Ahh but there is an intention of hosting the World Athletics Championships as well so that another part of you argument chipped away at ;-)

Crystal Palace is not a suitable location.

You appear to support the move to Stratford. All the ST holders I know are from North London and each one is dead set against the move. It's those from Herts and Essex who support the move. Maybe they are more concerned about parking and public transport facilities, than the history and tradition of the club. The 'T' in 'THFC' means something to proper fans.

If you move outside North London your club will be nothing more than a franchise in my eyes. The lowest of the low. Pondlife, like MK Dons.

I stand corrected.

Another potential 10 days in the 80-year life of the stadium will obviously make a massive difference.

Talk sense, if you honestly believe the poor argument of a legacy at crystal palace you are deluded. At least city redeveloped a stadium and this was included in the design. To suggest knocking down a stadium which as just been built for your own self interest is stupid. Even if the stadium is half empty the majority of the time it is better than the spurs option.

Yes it another 10 potential days on top of the other days it would be used by West Ham rather than Spurs knock it down 2 years into its life span
