Spurs (H) 2nd Leg - Post Match Thread

VAR aside, damage was done in the first leg, lost, missed penalty, no away goal. Conceding 3 at home inexplicable. No way on this earth should we have gone out to Spurs over 2 legs, 16 points behind in PL and GD 34 worse.
It's Cup tie super intense football. We had the same experience last year when a game almost takes on a life of its own. Football is not a science which is why all the super confident predictions were misplaced.

I feel when we look back on this tie in the future we'll think back to the first leg which we allowed to pass us by. Pep felt City could not play our usual offensive football on that night, rightly or wrongly, probably rightly because he's Johnny on the spot, and that gamble back-fired and put us under pressure.

You can’t even clearly see the exact moment the ball is played to Aguero. When it’s that close it should be a goal.

That's it exactly. One angle he looks level, another marginally off. Not one Spurs player appealed. For their handball goal the referee takes an age then shrugs his shoulders. What does that fucking mean?

Gutted. Spurs were lucky tonight and we were unlucky.
Sadly, Peps Brain fart last week cost us the game.

exactly the most important leg is the first leg, especially playing a team from the same country, saying that if we could score pens we would be through.
Havent read the thread so sorry if this is repetition. Poor game management. After 1-1 we should have kept possession and frustrated Spurs until they opened up.
Going gung ho left us open with inevitable results.

And any team that loses 3 goals at home scarcely deserves to move on.

Naive.

Teams are vulnerable after defeats and historically very good sides have been shaken by defeats like this.

Don't just assume that City will be like a wounded animal and bounce back

This is the moment of the league campaign. Deal with this one. Get over this hurdle and another to follow. If we are still standing after that, our position will look very solid. But this is the danger zone now.

We have had a fantastic season, let's just embrace it and hope that lady luck smiles on us next time we need her

Looking at the underlying stats on 538 of both legs we should have gone through easily but it’s goals that count.

Times like this you have to remember 93.20 and 100 points with the last kick of the season.

Refs need to be milked up for VAR. The ball definitely touched Llorente's elbow.
I'd also like to see the video freeze framed for our offside. I'm sure when the ball is first touched by Silva on the ricochet Aguero is onside. They seem to take the offside decision from a few slides later which is incorrect.

This is not probably the the right time Marv to be spouting pearls of wisdom like that

You could also say what bottle to come back from 2-1 down and on the verge of going out.

City are extraordinary. We won tonight and lost it in the 1st leg where we didn't play. Pep felt it was too big a risk that night given our physical condition.

We are in a weaker physical and mental condition now. On the ropes but within a week, we might be glad of this perverse as that might sound. Get through the next two games, and we'll be 100% focused with no distractions. Two Cup Finals ahead. Win those and it becomes doable.

I never really thought we could win the Champions League. We had too much on our plate.

Watched over and over wanting to see him clearly offside but it just looks level. There has to be doubt there so goal.

I’d say that for any team.

It's almost like some people will the team to collapse after a defeat. I know some might miss the old days but come on, no misery and despair for me thanks... :)

Maybe. I made that point at the time. Pep subsequently said that he felt the team did not have the physical capacity to play our normal attacking game at Spurs. Can we argue that given we are sat at home, whilst he trains the players?

I am worried about Sane. I find it very odd that his involvement in this tie was almost non-existent.
