Spurs (H) 2nd Leg - Post Match Thread

Bitterly disappointed. On balance, we deserved to go through. We were simply the better team today and last week. Our players gave everything. Even when it appeared the tie was over within the first ten minutes we battled on. Once again we found luck not to be on our side.

I have to say though that we are not solid enough to win the Champions League. Even if we had gone through, we’d see the same defensive flaws brutality exploited by the opposition in the later stages. You simply cannot gift the opposition two goals in the first ten minutes at this level.

Always thought that the Champions League was going to be step too far this season. We can still go on to have a phenomenal year by picking up the domestic treble. We need to put this behind us and make sure we punish them on Saturday.
Yes and when VAR is in your favour in the first leg you should take advantage of it, that penalty miss cost us dear in the end.

Still love Aguero to bits though.

Crushing. Such fine margins at this level. We gave it everything on and off the pitch but it wasn't to be. Not this time.

I'm sure Pep and the management team will get the lads fired-up for Saturday. We will need tonight's crowd there too - brilliant support tonight.

Pep said one angle it looks handball on another it doesn't, anyone got links?

In the Philippines and can hand on heart say I would have put my house, kids and misses on the line that it would be not given....

So wished I’d videod the coverage. It was the easiest decision in the history of officiating. THAT bad pal.

What I'm confused about is considering how easy and in control everything felt when we went 4-2 up, why did we immmediately bring Fernandinho on and slacken off?

Every time we went remotely near 4th gear Tottenham could not live with us at all, and it felt like a matter of formality that we'd score another goal or 2. Indeed the only way we were going to lose was by doing exactly what we did, slackening off, letting them get a foothold in the game again and score when it was too late for us to respond.

You can get fucked. It clearly hit his elbow. VAR didn’t show the ref the clearest view of the goal, yet before the goal was checked the replays showed clearly it hit his elbow. We got robbed tonight, bad defending or not.
Sorry fella but your grasping ....

Absolutely gutted by that tonight, what a shit way to lose out in the end having put in so much effort.

Not a night to be focussing on blame in the heat of the moment but it’s understandable.

I can’t believe the softness of the goals that we conceded tonight, Eric is the last player you’d expect to produce those two errors.

Colossal performance from KDB, and so many top notch, Kyle, Raheem, Bernardo were my pick of the bunch.

I just hope that Pep and his staff can lift the players for one last push, I think there’s a danger the players might suffer a bit of a hangover, especially with the next game coming so soon.

Football can be cruel and it’s been very fucking cruel tonight.

This team deserves the Domestic treble, come on Blue Boys.

Great effort from the boys.

We deserved to win and go through. Just a bit of poor game management once we were up cost us.

Wrong team selection in the first game And
Tonight was just a poor game from laporte & Ederson that cost us. Both Been our most reliable all season but not tonight.

Mendy not good enough for this team and d silva seems to be done. :-( Mendy positioning and simple pass is awful.

Focus on prem league & cup blues some of our football was amazing tonight but the luck was not on our side, spurs had all the luck

Not sure who is to blame , our shambolic defending or UEFA's VAR system , probably a bit of both , it wasnt meant to be tonight but what annoys me is the media spin after a game like this , when we were easily the better team on the night , the difference is Spurs got a VAR decision and we did not. There are two ways this will go now , our team will drop their heads because rthat was a crushing way to lose a quarter final OR we are more determined than ever to win our last six games and win a treble. One thing is for sure we need another atmosphere like tonight for the game on Saturday , our support was superb tonight and we need this for the remaining home games and Wembley . Always CTID.

Sergio was slightly offside.
Thanks Blue. Ah well. If Blues agree it was the correct call then fair enough. I'll let my lad know and he can finally go to sleep :) still think llorente was a handball. But thems the margins. Onto the PL. Hopefully with dippers minds split between CL and league they'll fuck up along the way. Have a good night if you can B. CTID

Yep, he is the best gk with his feet probably ,but he isn´t anywhere near the best goalkeeper overall. You want your goalkeeper to be able to pass the ball with Peps tactics ,but first of all ,he should be a very good shot stopper.I think his positioning is to blame for most of the goals he should have saved ,not that he has no reflexes or something. We need to improve our back line if we want to make it to the finals one day.

Not been his usual self since that hip issue. Wasn’t his usual self tonight.

Personally hate this wank competition,
Wouldn’t give a fuck if we never entered it again, but my kids and other family members who are obviously younger in years jumped around the house like we’d won the World Cup, the raw emotion and reaction to the injury time winner was amazing to see and within a minute it was stripped, the room fell on its arse and that emotion which football has always given us has been stripped off and tv screens now totally rule our game. My youngest still can’t figure out that the rags lost 4-0 and our result means the same. Might as well get a fuckin text letting you know that the your team lost to the perfect result as var saw it. Then u can cheer

Fuck me what a game to be at. Went through every emotion. I'm definitely emotionally invested in this club...my heart and my guts told me that. That VAR decision at the end..OMG..not see a replay was it off side? We lost it in the away leg..should have got an away goal...also what was Lalorte doing early on tonight. He's been so solid but tonight had a shocking first half. Saturday will be interesting now. Pep needs to get them up for it.

2 VAR decisions, first one wrong, second one sadly right, but should never have been down to that. By far the better side, but tactics wrong (as so many have said( in the first leg just pile pressure on for the second, and mistakes happen. We're better than Spurs all over the pitch, should have gone hard in the first leg and we wouldn't be holding this inquest. Pep's the best in the world, but he isn't flawless

We didnt go through because we conceded 3 goals.
You can’t do that and expect to progress.
The fact that we nearly did shows we’re so much better than them but in the CL we seem to brain fart at the back so often.
It shouldn’t be treated any different to a prem game when we dominate all areas of the pitch throughout.
But for some reason their mentality changes and we can’t cope.
Raheem kevin bernardo and gundogan quality. Gutted
