Spurs (H) 2nd Leg - Post Match Thread

Proud of the lads.....played amazing tonight. Mistakes costs us and Laporte made a few but over the season, he's been one of our best players so not going to put the blame all on him.....think we dug a hole for ourselves in 1st leg! A FA Cup win and then the league will soon help us forget nights like this!;)

As a great italian manager once said
Its football, only saw the second half due to work ,the sheer elation when raheem scores then desolation when its disallowed, fuck it dust ourselves down and fucking win on Saturday ,that's all we can do

didnt cover himself in glory tonight, flapped at the ball that gave em the corner for their handball goal
Thank you watch out you don't get called a Chelsea fan, some fans just don't like the truth,
Ederson is 2nd to none with his feet but he flaps to much & should have bossed the 6 yard area tonight.

That’s as clear as day.

As was the ‘angle’ BT showed.

The bent bastards.
I wasn’t going to say it, as I hadn’t seen that angle so couldn’t be sure, but this does support my belief that VAR will be largely implemented and used in order to allow them to maintain plausible deniability in still getting certain calls wrong, when it suits them.

In this case, I said at the time to a mate that they were oddly only prominently showing the one angle to Cakir that made it very difficult to discern if it his arm. There were about 5 others available and they only showed two on his screen, and he ignored the other one (which was also a better angle), instead discussing the dubious one with the VAR official via his mic.

And save this post: when faced with this evidence, and having reviewed with VAR, they will just say something to the effect of “well, we only have a limited time to review and cannot look at all of the angles; we depend on the VAR team to highlight the best camera angles to review.”

We didn’t lose tonight because of VAR, but it certainly didn’t help us.

Well thanks Tolm someone with a brain backs me up.

We were shite in our box & Dave is tired.

We have a string of top class defenders but the defence still lacks solidity and has little in the way of waterproofing. We let in some right soft uns when two passes ago there was no threat.

We had that game by the throat, in both legs, but let go of the Haringey gizzard twice. Yer can't do that at any level.

Have no problem with Llorente's goal. If that's not given, the game's gone. But it was deliberated over for quite a while until they came to their decision. They seemed to come to the decision on our disallowed goal more quickly, so seemingly a clear offside. But can someone clear up the offside rule for me. I thought if the defending player played it back and it was deflected that it wasn't offside? I seem to remember something similar in a Liverpool v Spurs game a couple of seasons ago, Lovren the defender I think but can't remember the exact situation.

Can't give away 3 goals at home at this stage of the CL and expect to qualify. Some brilliant performances tonight but David Silva was the proverbial chocolate teapot again and Laporte cost us 2 of those goals & didn't cover himself in glory for the third.

Simple fact is that we weren't brave enough in the first leg. Liverpool scored 4 tonight in Porto when they could have sat back. Ajax went to Madrid & Turin and were true to their footballing beliefs. We lost that game at White Hart Lane.
Never mind ,I’m sure he will get the chance to make amends on Saturday .

Sentiment will kill this season if we are not careful.

You laughed at my Ederson post??

I'm asking if you think different
I think you should be taking your hat off to the team for going from first whistle til last.

I said on here a few weeks ago that any poster coming on picking holes and highlighting players should do one, this part of the season, the tail end of the season when the team have gave it their all for months and months, it's all about the results and not the performance.

Yeah?

As soon as we went ahead Pep should have closed it off, we looked vunrable & gaps were showing.

Devastated after that.

Can’t even celebrate goals anymore for fear of VAR retracting them. Fair enough it was offside but in terms of the handball football is subjective and some officials on another day disallow that. Takes the fun out of the game constantly waiting on decisions - especially when you’re in the ground and can’t even fucking see anything on a big screen it’s ridiculous.

Gutted for the lads especially Kev/Raz/Bernardo - all three of them were completely possessed tonight and Kev single handedly ran the show in the second half.

Will be really hard to pick ourselves up from this but if anyone can do it it’s this group of players.

I feel totally drained.

As much as I wanted VAR and actually agree with the offside but still not convinced with the handball decision , it’s gonna kill the game . The raw emotion of football will be removed as it’s introduced next season. It will become a sport to be watched on tv and not live . You will find that 75% of goals are reviewed and so the question is when to celebrate. Aguerooooooo moment would not happen because you would be programmed to wait and not get excited until someone says it’s a goal . The spontaneous emotion of the last minute winner is gone forever because it’s not a goal until the man in the van says so . RIP as a live spectator sport

Yeah I know what you’re saying but answer me this.

My dad is 74, recovering from having half his kidney removed two weeks ago (cancer), was too tired to stay up tonight and is going to watch it “as live” when he wakes up at 6am. The poor fucker is going to go through all of that, he’s going to celebrate the last minute winner and then he’s going to be so upset, as we all have been.

What the fuck should I do? It actually hurts my heart to imagine and know what he’s gonna go through. Wouldn’t wish it on anyone, let alone a poorly old guy. I’m half wanting to text him and tell him to call me before he watches it rather than let him go through all of that when he’s not well.

I’m sat here, two hours ahead of you lot with no clue what I should do. As I say, it’s pretty cruel either way.

If it were me, I’d prefer to be warned.

Mite not agree with all things var but show it on the screen at the match so we who are paying to be there know what the fuck is going on like the people at home watching it .great crowd tonight, great game, shite var, onwards and upwards you blue boys
