Spurs (H) | PL | Post-Match Thread

The first half was just lacklustre again, but we’ve been worse than that recently. A very poor individual mistake for their first and the same feeling sorry for ourselves moment just like Saturday for their 2nd where we just don’t deal with it. I thought Grealish and Rico looked decent in the first half.

2nd half was much better but again, I still think we had periods where we looked a bit half-arsed. That said, great to get back into it and then never looked like we’d let it go again once we were level.

Rico is a very, very good footballer. Shows maturity, calmness, desire and knowledge beyond his years. He’s not a gamble at all now and I’m wanting to see him start most games. Nothing against walker either, we’re now blessed in the right back department.

Grealish really showing how valuable he is now. Can’t wait for his confidence to pick up in front of goal. Hopefully he’ll back himself and shoot a bit more.

Solid from Ake again on the whole, our most consistent defender this season.

When we press and move the ball forwards quickly we will rip anyone a new one. Frustrating when we make 400 sideways and backwards passes because nobody wants to drive it.

Let’s hope we take confidence from that and push on now. We all know we can do it. Same team again on Sunday for me with the only change I’d think about being Dias for Akanji.

Ref wasn’t good enough again but that’s no surprise.

Oh, finally, fuck off Tottenham you horrible, boring southern cunts.

As I've been saying all season, we've more than enough quality in our squad, so our patchy form comes down one thing... Mentality!

In previous seasons, when teams upped the pressure, we'd match it & raise it further. If they raised it again, we'd again match it & raise it further & keep doing so until the opposition hit their tempo & effort ceiling & then we'd blow them away.

The first half of this season we've seen very little of who & what the Manchester City of recent seasons are. Pep was absolutely bang on with his post match interview. The ground was like a fuckin cathedral in the first half & the players looked like they were wading through treacle.

This season we've tried it every which way but loose. We've changed personnel, formations & tactics, but nothing's clicked so far. Tonight has now made it VERY evident our issues are to do with desire, tempo & our inability to raise our in-game levels.

Pep's alluded to player issues previously, & tonight he said he wants his home fans back & that it's his job to sort out our squad issues.

Tonight confirmed to me what I suspected, & Pep has come out & said as much. I mean look at our fuckin bench tonight! Tonight's team made a total mess of that tepid first half, so after a halftime rocket, he quite rightly sent the same lot out to correct the mess they'd made.

Mahrez was my MoTM & Alvarez today made a strong case for his continued inclusion. Perhaps we've become too comfortable & some of our top players need to feel like their team places & future at City are under serious threat.

The look on Pep's face tonight reinforced why (apart from the occasional brain fart), he's the best in the business & that he won't be scared to upset our Superstars to get us back on track.

50% of resolving an issue is recognising you have one in the first place. The boos around the ground shocked me, but on reflection I shouldn't have been surprised.

Those boos HURT Guardiola & I think it's the final wake up call he needed to give the players a blast & promise us fans corrective action. Let's see where we go from here.

They deserved the boos at half time.

Hopefully it was a rocket up the arse of the players and the manager.

Great game….in the end.
First half we were good without being great.
How the fuck we were 2-0 down I don’t know (I do)
Second half as soon as we scored we turned into a Pep team.
We played with energy, we had movement, we pressed.
We had fight!
The slightly annoying thing is why it takes being 2-0 down for them traits to come out.
Still it shows we do our basics and we are still a great team.
Happy fucking days.

Well Pep certainly put his cards on the table there. Basically he saying if He can’t motivate the players or have the fans support them I’m off. He genuinely feels like we’re approaching an end of an era. It has to happen some time.
I didn't see it as him saying he's off. I saw it as him saying no one is untouchable & that some of our top stars could be for the chop.

When our levels dropped in the past, we had enough out on the park to raise our levels way above the oppositions, which would turn defeats into draws & draws into wins.

That desire has been missing this season & Pep proved it tonight by giving the team a halftime rocket & sending them back out to clear up their mess.

The difference between the first & second half? Our desire & us actually attacking the Spurs defence with unpredictable jeopardy.

For instance, just after we'd gone 3-2 up, we slowed the game down & started playing sidewards & backwards football again, which let Spurs back into the game.

Pep was going fuckin mental on the sidelines! The message got through to the players, as they again picked up the pace & stopped fuckin about.

THIS has been our issue all season. Our squad needs to realise that no one is gonna hand us anything! If we want to win titles, we're gonna have to want it, & know that we have to go out there & win the fuckers!

I thought we were poor against United
Same 1st half tonight
Same since World Cup
However I saw something in the second half that makes me feel we really can kick on
Done it before let’s do it again
Peps playing the media as well
Happy days

great chant that....cunts were well wound up ...most fucked off the mard cunts
Bunch of bellends. Went mental when the second went in and at the end of the game were pretending they didn’t want to win. Saw 4 of the spineless cunts holding up their phones with pictures on saying ‘please win the league’. Weird fuckers
