Spurs (H) | PL | Post Match Thread

One team well coached, one team all over the place.
No surprise to us despite the media “shock”.
Spurs- can see they do actual coaching- 9 shots, 7 on target, 4 goals. We are far to easy to play and beat these days,

Us- pathetic in all aspects. Do we have a defensive coach, zero desire to put bodies on the line and all over the place. Midfield we all know about, it’s embarrassing now.
But my god, how shit are we up front.
23 shots with only 5 on target and half of those were pathetic attempts. Players not knowing the very basics of football and leaning back time and time again when blazing over.

Walker, Gundogan should not be in our team. Silva, Savinho and Lewis are squad players at best.
Stones, Ake, Akanji too injury prone and 2 need replacing.

We will be 11 points behind the Dippers when they give us a hiding next weekend. Forget the titles, its impossible with our squad, Top 4 is going to be a real battle this season and i would not be surprised if we missed out.

Squad has sadly been neglected with a lack of strengthening our 1st 11 over the last few years and awful transfer activity and its now showing. 1 striker is the entire squad and Zero goals or assists from our wingers and quite possibly one of the worst midfields in the PL sums up the awful mess our last few summers have left us in.

Next week could be a Rags level thumping there

A bad or a slow rebuild never ends up being good - we have seen this umpteen times with all most all clubs in the world.

Txiki mentioned something very interesting few days back regarding our transfer policy post the treble- he said those who won the treble and those who were on the bench both groups had different agendas and targets post such a stupendous success.

Some wanted to leave, some wanted more than reasonable length of contracts and so just became complacent -

And I always felt the City post the treble was not a ruthless machine that it was before it - we were late to convince players , we failed to sell players who wanted to leave , we gave dead weights like walker bigger contracts and we signed the wrong players and we were afraid to spend a whole lot of money.

Well the chickens have come home to roast.
It’s like Pep first season - the mistakes of Pelligrini era will devour this season - and then hopefully a whole sale set of transfers next summer will guide us to another decade of crazy success. Hopefully!

I want to like Rico..I really do but he has to be the technically scuffiest footballer I have seen in a blue shirt the past 15 years.Totally lost in midfield.Fuck Walker off and slot him in there and play O'Reilly instead in midfield.

End of an era. Start of a new one.

Viana has something to prove, he'll be aggressive in the market. Pep's committed to another rebuild. Top young players coming through.

We'll be OK in the end. Unless we get relegated, in which case none of this matters.
