We could be FIFTH by the end of next weekend!
For perspective, that Spurs team lost at home to Ipswich! So Spursy!
Same EXACT game plan that beats us every time we lose beat us again today:
Don’t finish our chances
Concede on first break
Lather, Rinse, Repeat.
Looked a shell of the team that won it all in 2023. Just don’t have it if we don’t have the top 14 available and in form, and even then everyone knows we can be overrun on the break.
It definitely will not happen, but we need AT LEAST a new RB, CB or two, at least 3 midfielders and a striker. Between January and July-August Txiki & Hugo need to start writing some cheques and rebuilding this team with some size, strength and speed.
Look around at the strong midfields and they have all three, or at least 2 of the 3 in every player.
Much work to be done inside the club to redefine who City are going to be going forward.
Lastly, I think Pep has to look at himself.
He changed the League when he came to City. People said he couldn’t play his way in the PL and yet with the exception of Liverpool, his ideas have not only been absorbed by other PL and Bundesliga managers, but improved upon by inserting SSS into them.
However, while teaching other teams how to play for 9 years, they have not only learned the lesson, but understand the weaknesses and, more importantly, how to exploit the system.
Pep has tweaked things, and we have lauded those tweaks, but they have merely spackled over the cracks of a rapidly aging team.
Today, every crack was laid bare and the weaknesses of certain players were highlighted by Spurs players who were hungrier, more aggressive, first to every ball, and who know where the goal is.
Today, nobody covered themselves in glory, but more importantly the players whose glory days are behind them was on full display.
As I’ve said repeatedly, we need more size, strength and speed in our team, but when Pep is winning everything people come back over the top with “In Pep We Trust.”
Yep, his historical record is ridiculous, but anyone still ignoring the obvious, both with Pep and the squad, is whistling past the graveyard. History is in the rearview mirror, but that is where most Spurs players saw their marker today.
Not a good day at the office and if that spectacle didn’t light a fire under ownership and executive management, nothing will.
A few players are STEALING A LIVING at City at the moment, and they know who they are.
Bigger, stronger, faster…there endeth the lesson. Go in peace.
