Spurs (H) | PL | Post Match Thread

I can’t really say I am too shocked….a repeat of the last four matches….a bright start then capitulation.

The unbeaten start to the season only masked what we are seeing now.

Totally agreed with Gundo coming back, but it’s been a disaster so far.

From where I was sat, for the third goal Gundo and Foden both pulled out of tackles….both are or were wonderful players when things are going well but we currently have too many players who cannot compete physically.

I think Rico is a great talent but a midfield of Gundo, Rico, Savio, Foden and Bernardo would struggle against most premiership teams.

Goals really do make a difference and if Haaland had put his chances away before Spurs scored who knows…..however we scored first against Lisbon and Brighton.

A big rebuild job ahead…..maybe the uncertainty over Pep didn’t help in the Summer, but we have obviously took our eye off the ball and not been ruthless enough when it comes to replacing some of the big names.

I really think we have a fight on our hands to be playing Champions league next season.

We're critically low on confidence. Its nothing to do with not working hard enough except maybe on the training field. But when Kevin and Grealish came on we were a different team. I am really annoyed Pep persevered with Lewis and Savinho, especially Savinho, he was a waste of a player out there.

But our confidence needs to change before the season does.

What position was Savinho supposed to be playing today? I genuinely couldn’t work it out.

'In eight years we have never lived this kind of situation'

Man City boss Pep Guardiola speaking to BBC Radio 5 Live: "In this moment we are fragile defensively. We started really well as normal but we could not score and then after that we conceded. After that we conceded some more which is difficult for our emotions right now.

"In eight years we have never lived this kind of situation. Now we have to live it and break it winning the next games, especially the next one. Now we see things in one way, maybe in a few weeks we see it differently."

On if the players are struggling: "Of course. We are happy when we win and concerned when we don't win. It's normal. There would be a problem if they were not worried or I am not worried.

"We are not used to doing this situation but life is like this. Sometimes it happens and we have to accept it. It is what it is now and we will stand up and do it."

On technical issues: "I would say that it is not a question of tactics when you lose these types of games. There are details of course but this situation is how you react in some moments. And things are different when you lose three league games in a row."

On his new deal and feeling the challenge: "The fire is when you win a lot of games, which is better than when you are losing, but we accept this. We have to move forward and break it and try."

0-4 Tottenham

Manchester City

Manchester City boss Pep Guardiola told Sky Sports: "We do not expect opponents to not create chances and score goals. We're in the moment. We started really well, we had chances and after the first time they arrive we concede. Then it's a bit more difficult to come back.

"Chances were there. The moment they create the chances the build-up, we coudn't handle the duels like normally. Now we're struggling a little bit.

"It cannot happen. When you play top level teams we can concede chances but it's part of process. In our situation it's a bit tougher.

"I have to see the situation. The players came back late [from internationals]. There were a few reasons we're not able to be consistent. Now the balance is not in the right moment. But it happened. We have to do it, talk and on Tuesday against Feyenoord have the chance to try.

"Of course Rodri is important but we knew that for many months. But Stones can only play 45 minutes. Jack has been injured many times. Kevin, two months and five months.

"We have to come back and freshen our minds. The season is so long. Many things can happen.

"Before the game I didn't know what will happen today. So I don't know what will happen at Anfield. Everyone knows the situation is new for us. We struggled more without the ball. I don't know how many chances we created. Our game was there."

We are just really shit at the moment

That is the biggest problem at the moment, We just need something to our way and get a result
Struggling for form is a killer and every week you don't win it adds up to panic stations. So what if we don't win the title, it's going to happen at some point and we should never begrudge anybody who wins and takes it off our hands, because that will be the aim and desire to get it back.

The funny thing is the fine margins, even into today's game we should have been 2 up before Spurs' first shot on goal
and that changes the result and the mood of everybody.

Yes feeling hurt and down, But we have been to the edge of darkness and had to face the REAL PAIN of being city fans without a pot to piss in or miles from being champions

Rodri is the system. Without him it doesn’t work
He’s the rock that we, and every team needs
When things are tough you want that big figure, the guy with the clenched fist and the angry scoul, the balance of style and ability and sheer grit and desire.
You can’t replace that easily but that’s why Pep gets the big bucks.
