Spurs (H) | PL | Post Match Thread

After years and years of being at full tilt and the mental and physical pressure of winning the treble and 4 in a row, finally, finally, it has caught up with us.

I Expected it last season but they kicked on and proved me wrong. I would love them to prove me wrong again this time but I feel in my heart that this is something completely different and the dam has broke.
What we need to do now, like the fans at the game tonight, is get behind the team and back them whatever they do, good or bad.

You learn to celebrate winning and you learn how to take defeat like champions and this is what we're going to do.

Just home. A great afternoon ruined by city. We’ve been there many times before

I don’t know where to start on that and I don’t want single out any players as none were worth more than 2 out of 10.. including pep who took at least 20 minutes too long to make changes

Beginning to look obvious now that our season was fucked the second Rodri was injured. We’re just so easy to play against on the break

And I’m sick to fucking death of starting brightly then going behind to the first attempt on goal by the opposition

Loads of things going on. No point digging out individuals or anything like that - seems like the whole team isn’t mentally there and/or there is a disconnect between the players and what Pep is trying to do (although Pep could do with being less stubborn just for once because some players are out on their arses knackered).

The likes of Savinho and Rico weren’t meant to be starting every game week in week out. I feel sorry for them - they’re trying their best but it’s not coming off for them at a time when everything else around them is falling apart.

Gundo wasn’t also brought back to start every match. I think Pep needs to start being a bit more innovative now, especially with the likes of McAtee - it can’t get any worse than it is now?

Injuries haven’t helped but can’t be an excuse for other disjointed performances. Kev looks like fitness is an issue and Phil looks like he’s lost his confidence and swagger.

The defence - don’t even know where to start but I don’t believe the players we have at our disposal have magically forgotten how to defend. We could do without Walker and Gvardiol being used like wingers just for starters.

Oh and those predictable voices calling out Grealish in this thread - can you please kindly fuck off for one night? We actually played better as a team when he and Kev came on and he hasn’t player for a fucking month but you’re so pathetic you just can’t help yourselves.

Been reading through everyone's replies and alot of people have spoken a lot of sense. It's kinda weird/frustrating that even though we've lost 5, we've created enough chances to win every game, even today. So at least we are creating chances I guess....let's hang on to one small positive :-)
But the struggle is real. Confidence is low. The team has aged considerably overnight seemingly. Injuries have caused havoc, we can't get a settled back 4 which is disruptive. We have no legs in midfield. We have no pace. Plenty of issues to address. With hindsight we probably let this team carry on for one season too many.....but I'd loved to be proved wrong come the end of the season! :-) it's still early and we know what these guys and Pep are capable of so I'm not ruling anything out just yet, but it does feel slightly different this year... :-(
In the short term we need kev up to speed and maybe a run of games for Jack purely coz he hardly loses the ball....and a 95th minute deflected winner off walkers bellend!

I adore Pep. Love the man.

But setting up tactically with the main aim to free up space on the wing for KYLE WALKER is the stuff of a madman.

We tried it 2 years ago and it didn’t work. And that’s when he had the legs to get up and down!

It’s a position absolutely perfect for somebody like Frimpong.

I'd like to know who we really tried to buy this summer, but also the reasons why they didn't sign
Was it the uncertainty over Pep's future or was it something else?

Otherwise, we sold Alvarez for a huge profit (after Bobb had been injured) and then did nothing to fill the void.
We needed more than an ageing Gundogan and a punt on a young lad who'd done okay for one of our umbrella clubs

The next signings need to be top drawer players who walk into the First Team.

Remember when Arsenal had a team of fast athletes under Wenger? that's how we are making every team look at the moment. Even average teams are running us ragged.
