Spurs (H) Post Match Thread

It’s not football that’s fucked, it’s us.

VAR will not be implemented like that for anyone else this season, same as the offside call.

This is how they will stop us. I am 100% convinced, all they have to do is find anything, literally anything they can call a technical foul on and that’s it.

Wolves had a goal ruled out exactly the same

Var aside..
I thought Kdb tended to be greedy ,
Gundo off the pace, Mahrez back to his old self , Aguero wasteful.
Tin hat at the ready.

We’ll be shafted more often than not this season.
It’s the selective use of VAR.
You can’t argue with it. You don’t know who you’re arguing with.

The big problem will be how it is used for some teams and not for others.

If the system is bent then technology will only make it easier to screw us.

Bent as fuck.

2 nailed on penalties not given by VAR and then that.
Welcome to the new era folks. You'll never celebrate another goal spontaneously again.

How Gundogan started and then stayed on for the entire game is utterly remarkable.
I thought Gundigan had one of his better games,he's slow as shit but that's not his strength.

Genuine question: how was he poor in that match?

We had 30 shots, 10 on target, some of the off target ones completely down to the player fluffing his chance. He bossed midfield with a walkabout partner in Ilkay and a not-yet-fit Kev jogging about in front of them (although they he was generally excellent going forward). He’s passing was metronomic and he had a few counter-stopping tackles/interceptions. He even brought a save out of Lloris.

What else is he meant to do?

I agree with some of the things you just posted, the passing was brilliant and his aerial presence was superb but the defensive work and his pace was lacking. I believe he would get used to the PL with time but right now his inclusion in the first team seems a bit rushed, especially against a high pressing team like spurs.

Brilliant delivery KDB, regulation for him, and Sterling headed it nicely into the side netting. Bernardo to my motm Kevin again to put it on a plate for Sergio. Great moment Rodri took the ball so cleanly from behind, been very impressed with Walker lately, good to see Sergio and Pep hug, we looked a different class the whole game. I was a big fan of VAR but was pretty sure they'd still try to screw us. So far we've got using the most detrimental frame for our offsides and the video ref just ignoring penalties for us. And this handball rule is absolutely ridiculous, yet never saw a replay of the other one for us. I can only hope certain other teams will face the same interpretation of the rules, or we'll just have to score every chance we get.

I'm sure the goal was always to have domestic competitions as bent against City as Europe is and now they've done it. Two matches and three goals (assuming they convert the penalty today) disallowed and two points dropped.

Mission accomplished.
Not often you and me agree mate.

That's a good point. He did pull on Laportes arm before the alleged hand ball.
Actually I think it was just before the ball came in, just watched the replay back it came a little bit earlier in the passage of play than I remember but it was still there.

Bernardo Silva is a wonderful player, but that finish was awful and it would have basically won us the game if he’d scored. And if we’re creating chances but still need a goal then Foden should be on instead of David Silva.

Sorry mate, but that is a horsecrap. Even Oliver was pointing to his ear after Rodri's situation and saying I didn't get anything from var. Var is there to say to ref, hey, there was a foul you might didn't see.

how do you know what oliver was saying...he could of been poiting to his ear to say it had been checked and they didnt deem it a foul either.....thats exactly how i interprited it during the game.....was it a foul....yes...it should have beeen . a stone wall penlaty so was the ref at fault yes but neither the ref nor VAR thought so...

its the ref at fault, not VAR

Fuck the new handball rule
Fuck VAR
Fuck that a blatant penalty wasn't even looked at.

Bar that we played well but was sloppy for the 2nd goal.

This in the biggest font possible. How is that not a penalty if it's looked at again?

I hate to say, but "I told you so". It will never be equal as far as VAR is used. I said so months ago, I wasn't a fan of it at the World Cup and even less so now. Can anyone tell me how much more of a handball that was today than Llorente's was in the semi-final? Utter and total codswallop. It's completely ruining football.
