Spurs (H) Post Match Thread

I was impressed by his work ethiceven in the last few minutes he was busting a gut to try and get the ball back.

He would be tremendous in a good team but no chance he gets a move anytime soon, too expensive and injury prone to justify the outlay in these Covid times.

We are simply magnificent, with so many members of the squad in top form.
Agreed re-Kane. Stay at Spurs and damage our competition, but keep him wrapped up in stones back pocket when Spurs play us. Should work

I thought that was as good as we have played all season. And we did it without our spine of Dias, Kev and Kun.

I'd agree with this. I thought that it was stunning performance. Kane & Son are two of the best players in the Pl and we nullified them. It was a materclass from Pep & it was perfectly executed by the players.

They seemingly have little issue in issuing sanction against us, even if its the first offence.

Tierney was appalling yesterday which to be fair to him, isn't a one off, its every single game regardless of the officials.
Same with the media. When a City player gets fouled in the box it's always " not for me" " not enough contact " or " it's a contact sport ". With others know for diving, the narrative changes accordingly "there was contact". Then the media talk about a " culture of cheating" as if it's some kind of phenomenon that materialised out of thin air.

without trawling through, is there an alternative, mr whippy comentary video on this game

Exactly - the shithouse is so fucking transparent he may as well be made of glass.
For the most part we didn’t put our feet in and just stood them up. The decision was made for them - and it showed what they were looking for when they got shepherded into a blind alley from which they just had to come out again.

It’s been said a few times already, but Cancelo is having the games of his life lately. No wonder he’s keeping KW out. His movement and passing is like having an extra midfielder. I’m eating a huge slice of humble pie about Laporte. He slotted back in like he’s never been away. It must be lovely for Pep to have such confidence in 3 or 4 CB’s and be able to rotate them without disruption.
I would love to have seen Fernandinho leave one in on Lamella after what he did to Gabby, he’s a snidey, dirty little Cnut. That could have seriously injured Gabby, yet the ref or VAR did fcuk all.
And don't forget the theatrics against the rags to get Martial sent off. Lamela is scum in the image of Maureen

What a performance, light years away from that god awful 2-0 loss earlier in the year. Very good performances all round, pounced and took most of our chances and I don't think Ederson made a save. Same again at Wembley.

I think it's telling that the manager who is complaining about 'modern penalties' is the same manager who, in Rashford's own words, 'taught me to be more savvy.'

You can't have it both ways you duplicitous ****.
Wouldn't it be nice to have just 1 reporter with a backbone, to bring things like this up when managers spout crap

The obvious aside, no; ‘duplicitous’. :-)
It describes its object in a suitably derogatory and precise way.

It also sets the tone for, enhances and amplifies the words around it; by dint of it being so specific and unemotional it also suggests that the full weight of its partner noun is that much more credible and warranted due to the carefully measured (and therefore seemingly more objective) delivery.

All in all, it turns what could be a throwaway insult into a deliciously pejorative phrase. Bravo.
