Uefa won't postpone champions league games, not a chance but I can see this weekends games being postponed. If it had happened at the start of the week it probably goes ahead but its very close and this weekend will probably see most things cancelled out of respect. Prince William is president of the F.A remember, I can't see them carrying on as usual.

They should be issuing a statement tonight really to clear things up one way or another but I suspect it won't come until tomorrow.

You are very much in the minority. It’s arguably the biggest news story in decades and will have a major impact on the UK. Football is pretty irrelevant to most people as well. Don’t know whether it will be cancelled or not though
Not sure that’s right mate. I’ve just come back from football training and there were dozens of players and all anyone was really talking about was that the weekend’s matches were on. Not a single person I talked to wanted them off.

9 days of mourning with everything cancelled is a big hole in the economy.

I understand nothing happening on the day of her burial, and I will pause on whichever tee I am on for a minutes silence, she was a special person, but cancel 3 games , impossible.

I am no Royalist but indeed have great respect for the Queen as a person. What I can not comprehend is that matches will be cancelled. We can still buy petrol, go to the shops to buy food, not sure I understand the concept of stopping leisure activities as a show of respect. I actually feel more respect would be shown by 54000 people standing up and singing God save the King at a time of mourning for the nation. Individuals can show respect in different ways.

We will never see her like again. And the postponement of football this weekend is absolutely the correct thing. We get so much wrong in this country. The rightful mourning at the passing of the country’s head of state is something we should and will get right.
Are pubs and restaurants closing for 10 days? If people can go out and get drunk I don't see why sport can't continue. A day either side of the funeral should be an adequate national mourning period.

I'm rather bemused that people think others should stop activities. If you want to pay your respects by stopping everything for 10 days, fair play to you, no problem. But there's no reason to impose it on everyone else.
Exactly. If grief junkies want to mourn and miss games then leave them to it, they are entitled to do so. Depriving the rest of us by forcing us to stop enjoying ourselves is a fucking disgrace.
