You are very much in the minority. It’s arguably the biggest news story in decades and will have a major impact on the UK. Football is pretty irrelevant to most people as well. Don’t know whether it will be cancelled or not though
Huge news story, very sad and makes you think for a minute.

However, absolutely nothing to do with football or sporting events or anything else for that matter.

Cancel sporting events but everything else carries on! Ridiculous.

Said it before but again 99.9 % of the crowd on Saturday will pay their respects and remember the occasion for the rest of their lives.

I can't believe UEFA would even consider postponing games for the death of a head of state of a single member nation, it will go ahead

Edit: 2 member nations of course, I guess if any club will want to mourn, it's going to be Rangers
If you are being picky it's four member nations.

That’s an opinion and opinions differ, not a fact, Whatever your opinion it will have an impact, some events already cancelled, and tomorrow we’ll find out the full impact as sports follow their protocols over the next week or so.

So, what you're saying is, I should sit at home and be solemn and miserable for the next ten days because a 96 year-old woman has died peacefully in her sleep? I take it I have to work during these ten days, can I still crack a joke and banter with my colleagues during this time? Or would that be disrespectful? Must I wear black for the next ten days? Can I watch Netflix and Disney Plus during this time or is that enjoyment also disrespectful?

I understand and fully respect that some will be sad and want to mourn, but don't then assume the whole country is one bleeding heart of anguish, because it isn't.

I lost my Grandfather and Grandmother earlier this year, they were my King and Queen. I was cut up but I didn't dwell and deprive myself of one of my greatest pleasures when that happened, so I sure as shit I'm not going to do it now.

You've got the media trying to convince us the nation is harrowed whilst simultaneously showing us footage of the same nation taking selfies and smiling outside Buckingham Palace. The whole thing is a piss take.
And you know what, decisions to cancel stuff will besmirch the Queen with petty arguments.

The Country can mourn but carry on with dignity, isn't that what we are famous for! No one more so than the Queen.

Well I'm working away & have a hotel paid for this weekend.... probably one or both won't happen but, I've moved my ticket in via the exchange so I'll be extra annoyed if the game is rearranged as I'll not be able to pick up a ticket for the £25 City give me back.

Nailed it. No disrespect to the lady who served her role with such distinction and I do feel a little sad as she's been there all my life. I'd observe the minutes silence and show respect but being forced to mourn feels a little odd and wrong. I'm sure this isn't what the Queen would have wanted at all.

The football and other sporting events are in the UK. So it’s absolutely relevant to football. A huge story like this effects all elements of the UK.

Everything else isn’t carrying on - strikes and lots of other events have been cancelled. Don’t know what you expected?

Except all those that have their livelihoods partially or wholly dependent on the football being played, most of which are already struggling amidst an economic crisis.

Who is going to compensate them for lost revenues and wages?

These cancellations have nothing to do with public safety or health, and you know the government are not going to provide financial relief to those impacted.

Who compensates them when games are cancelled in general?

Where’s my compensation when the trains cancelled and I can’t get to work?
