Too early to call. Both excellent players with complimentary skills. Takes time to gel a midfield and they've had what 1-2 matches together?

To be honest I hope your both correct ('idiotic' is a bit harsh btw). I'm not convinced by Fernando's passing ability and he was at fault for their 1st goal with dilly dallying. Fernandinho was consistently very good last season but I think the world cup has massively affected his confidence. If they improve then ill be quite happy to see them play together but going by yesterday, no.

Agree no question we are going to be exposed if the 2 ferns play together to many times it not to early to say, it go to be one or the other for me.

Interesting how everyone gets hysterical about Toure but when he does not play we don't look secure to me.

I get the jitters when nigh on one player is sitting on the bench - Zab, Edin, Yaya, Jimmy, David, Sergio!

Almost feel sorry for defenders .............. I said almost :-) seeing an on fire Super Kun coming at you incessantly must be the stuff of nightmares what a truly world class striker we have in Sergio if we can keep him fit, sharp and ready I'm not bothered about Chelsea's lead we'll reel em in at some stage we are simply a better side than Maureens spivs and over the course of a full season I expect our class to prevail. Keeping key players fresh is key and with only 21 players to call upon Pell may have to rotate a bit against lesser opposition over the course of the season, quick mention for Jimmy Milner what a performance yesterday great pro never faulted for effort and dedication to the cause.

Great result, Aguero, Hart, and Milner were superb, others not so great for me, very strange game though, we could have scored 10, Spurs maybe 5 or 6, some of our defending today was amateurish. I love our "we'll score more than you" attitude, but better teams than Spurs would have exploited it, and while good going forwards Spurs are pretty poor in midfield, and frankly w@nk in defence.

I don't want to be kidded by that result that we were better than we were, some of out football was very good, but we wasted a lot of it with poor decisions, and poor passing.

For me we made too many changes (again), I understand the need for rotation, and we have a key game midweek, but three changes in defence is too many, especially when we make (effectively) 3 in midfield too.

Ultimately it worked, so I won't criticise MP, but despite Aguero's goals and performance, Joe Hart was our key player (2 key saves at a very crucial moments), added to some idiocy from the Spurs defender, we still might not have won that game. James Milner too, put in so much energy, and effort, that he was dead on his feet by the end, yet we will need him midweek, and he can't keep performing at this tempo, no footballer can.

This might seem a negative post, its not meant to be, as I'm very proud of a lot about the way we played today, but it wasn't perfect, and we can be better than that (hopefully in the next home league game).

My ratings....

Hart - 9
Clichy - 6
Sanga - 6
Kompany - 7
Demechellis - 6
Navas - 6
Fernando - 5
Lampard - 6
Milner - 8
Silvas twin - 6
Aguero - 9.5

Fernandhino - 7
Jovetic - 5
Toure - 6

That's a very shrewd assessment but the phrase " a better side than Spurs" ?

Spurs are hoping for a Champions League spot, I don't think they will get it but they will come very close come May. Therefore, their aren't many better sides in the Premiership than Spurs and we won easily with a shoddy defensive performance, players missing and being very wasteful in front of goal.

Another point; how weird is this split opinion on Sagna - half seem to think he played very well and the other half think he was gash.

He played well, but he's gash compared to our Zaba.

I think we need to give Sagna a bit of time. Don't forget he's not used to playing football, at this high level ;-)

How many goals have we scored against Spuds in the last 2.25 seasons?

It's 15 in the last 3

Loved the City are tearing Spurs apart again song and shut the Chas and Dave on level 2 up for a while
Was that the first time here they haven't sung about Ricky Villa's goal since he scored it?

Rock solid performance.

Only drawback was the injury to Frank.

His experience in making more of the contact for the penalty was what we need more of as everybody else given the opportunity does likewise.

Whether we like it or not its going to continue despite the criticism it will get from aggrieved managers and the press.

As the old saying goes if you can't beat them join them.

We weren't as good as many claim, especially when it was 11 v 11. If spurs had a decent man up front they could've been in the lead by the time we made it 3-1, we really need to sort ourselves out defensively because we allowed them to create way too much and against better teams that could cost us big time.

I actually think the ref had a pretty decent game. He let a lot of things go and got most decisions right, apart from not booking Chadli (I think) for his scrape on Silva's heel.

Granted Lampard's penalty was very soft but we've all seen them given and Soldado was only just outside the area and at speed from the angle he was at you can see why he gave it (should have help from his assistant though.

I actually thought Sagna had a good game. Zabaleta IMO is the best fullback in the world, so filling his boots is going to be tough. IIRC it took Zaba a few games last season to figure out how to play behind Navas, and Sagna I thought did it effectively on Saturday.

Navas I thought was excellent, sure his final ball wasn't the best but without Dzeko in the box he has to look to whip it across the face of the goal or pull it back and we poor in getting bodies in the box quick enough......Lampard going off didn't help as he's the master of that. Navas was a constant menace from the start to Spurs and their high-line. I'd highlight the ball he put into the box which led to our third penalty, it was perfect.

I thought Milner had a very good game again but had less of an impact than Navas.....On a side note Milner was constantly getting himself in good positions and in lots of space but Silva and Aguero both seemed to frequently ignore him.

My top 5 players for v Spurs.

Aguero
Hart
Navas
Milner
Sagna

Its a fair comment but outside Southampton you won't find many teams we still have to play at home this season creating too many chances at least domestically.

Spurs will be thereabouts for top 6 again this season at that's their limit.

Its really a two horse race without sounding too smug.

Manure and Arsenal will be fighting the spot for third.

It could be daylight between second and third this season unless Manure buy up big again in January.

Re: Lloris

Not sure if this has already been asked, but have\hen did City ever last get awarded 3 penalties in a game ?

I recall going to Burnley in the mid 1970's when Dennis Tueart took 2 pens and missed both (one after a retake)

Also a few years ago v Wigan at home I think we got 2 pens and Tevez missed one and Aguero score done ?

Cannot recall 3 pens in a game for City though ?
