I bet Delle Alli doesn’t get the same punishment for his racist remarks about the Chinese.
FCUKING double standards yet AGAIN by the FA
I'm not really sure as to why you think Dele should get the same punishment as Bernardo. Personally I think what Dele did is sackable. Far worse than what Bernardo 'done' even though I thought Bernardo didn't do anything wrong.

Did you post in defence of Bernardo or did I miss it? :-)

Why would I? I paid no attention to that story whatsoever! I have no idea what it was about other than that he was accused of racism and was handed a one game ban.

Aye my Vietnamese friend is loving all these fantastic and original satirists that have suddenly emerged to keep making jokes and comments about how he has the coronavirus, all no doubt aimed as a stinging barb mocking the way the media are overreacting to the outbreak, he definitely doesn't think it's racist at all

Tell me, then, what you think is specifically racist about it.

I had to laugh when Mrs Ewing insisted on having FF on last weekend, and I glanced up to see the Haringey goals and then waited for the 'foul' on the Remorseful One, but the BBC didn't show it! Yer'ver gotta laugh. Just aired the pen, and that was it!

clear example of the new racism against Asians...

Oh, come on....

Hangable, surely?

I repeat, how did the video denigrate or ridicule the person in question? How was it racist?

He targeted somebody based on their ethnicity, filmed them without their knowledge and then posted a video online inferring that they had an infectious disease. Of course it was racist. It's extra shitty when you factor in we've had schools reporting Asian kids being ostracised and bullied because ignorant parents are telling their children to stay away from them. That kind of stuff isn't harmless fun, it has consequences.

I've already said that it was a silly thing to do. It was wrong. Alli realises it too now.

But none of what you have said meets the definition of racism. Seriously, you need to look up what the word means. People far too casually and freely chuck it around like confetti.

I take it the FA are laughing off Alli's mistimed joke?

If I was Bernie i'd be pissed off if they did.

No, YOU need to look up the definition

No, YOU need to look up the definition

Go on, then, tell me......

What, specifically, was racist about the video?

At what point did Alli state or imply the inferiority of another race? At what point did he refer to another race pejoratively? At what point did he express hatred for or intolerance of another race? At what point did he attribute unique and offensive physical, mental, linguistic or behavioural characteristics to another race?

He did none of those things.

What he did do was make a skit on video that was in poor taste, given the growing coronavirus epidemic. It was an ill judged and poorly conceived attempt at topical humour. Current affairs was the motivation for the skit. Not racism. And it seems perfectly obvious that the joke is intended to be on himself (and paranoia) - not on his unwitting "co-star".

At the very least it's a gross invasion of someone's privacy and he should be banned and possibly face criminal charges. But I imagine Alli, being such a good guy, will come to the guy's defence.

Definitely that. By far the worst thing about it. However, as I understand it (being a million years too old to use snapchat!), Alli only allowed the video to be viewed by friends. It was one of those "friends" who decided to splash it all over social media and thus made a fairly private joke very public.

Haven't we all at some point filmed what some random stranger was doing or saying because it amused us? Or haven't we at least laughed at similar such videos that we've been sent or have stumbled across online? Did we throw up our arms, horrified by the invasion of privacy in each of those instances?

The point here is the response provoked by Bernardo's tweet to his friend about his friend. That's what gets posters hot under the collar. That was to his friend and he put it on a public forum. Mistake perhaps but he didn't deserve the concerted media attack and predictably spiteful public response to the attacks on Twitter, nor the po-faced involvement of Kick it Out and the Premier League. Spurs fans defending Alli on here as if he's a misunderstood satirist is not going to play well. It comes across as a wind-up. I'm sure you wouldn't want that.

Good old race card, thrown around by middle aged white people who decides what's racist and what's not.

Bernado and Alli, Two lads having a joke. Shit my inbox fills up with memes daily with this Corona bollocks.

Anyway, im sure Alli and Silva called each other tonight about their right wing extremism and plotted to wipe out some ethnic minorities, the rotten racists.

Gotta love the faux outrage
