Spurs thread 2020/21

Sad to see a decent keeper deciding they don’t want to play anymore.

I think strong competition will do him good. He went to Torino, West Ham, and Burnley as number one and struggled at all three. His best form for City was when he was in competition with Shay Given, and had a point to prove. His problems have come when he's become complacent. Pellegrini dropped him in the 13/14 title winning season, and he bounced back. Having to fight for a first team place will benefit him.

He’s got dropped at every club he’s been at since, become 2nd or even 3rd choice in some cases. If competition made him better he’d be smashing it by now.

What with the Edison bashing?

He has had a very good season, early season he saved us many times from a good hiding.

Brilliant signing, brilliant goalkeeper and he his distribution is magnificent.
I don’t get it, either.

I love Eddie; he’s fucking brilliant in every department of his game.

Admittedly, he gats caught off his line at times, but that’s due to the way Pep wants him to play.

And to criticise his shot stopping is simply ludicrous; he has made some absolutely outstanding saves since he’s been here.

As for his distribution, I have rarely seen any player, let alone a goalkeeper, who can ping very long passes with such accuracy.

He is the best‘keeper I have ever seen.

You have just answered your own question. Brilliant signing, brilliant goalkeeper and his distribution is magnificent. Perhaps sub consciously but your key compliment on his ability was based on his footwork. There is no way he has ever saved us from a good hiding. Joe Hart was significantly better than Ederson at actually saving the ball “1 on 1s” / “reflex” etc etc. Some of his performances (Dortmund,Munich,Barcelona - I.e. big game moments) were genuine world class Emerson simply isn’t anywhere near that level at actual saving the ball and yes, his footwork is great but we play a team now that accentuates this (left back and tiring back drop parallel, centre half makes a triangle allowing us a spare man at all times)
Says it all you are going back 5+ years to find a decent performance from Hart. How about you look at some of the other games, and some truly 'shocking' keeping, shots down to his left seem to come to mind.

He is not good enough and hasn't been for a while which is why he ended up at Burnley and is now 3rd choice at spuds.

Joe was, to all intents and purposes, third choice at Burnley, when both Pope and Heaton were fit, which says it all.
