Spurs thread 2020/21

You can’t defend the actions of a greedy self serving football club. I bet the board members/shareholders did not get furloughed.

Ha! What?? Furlough shareholders???

As to the board of directors, they took a pay cut right at the beginning and it is still being applied. They are the only people working for Spurs to have been thus affected. And, no, they were never down to be furloughed. Because they all still had jobs to do.

That's the point, you see. The furlough scheme was designed to save the jobs of those people who no longer had a job to do because of COVID. And, naturally, for a company that relies on much of its income from hosting mass attendance events, there were a lot of people at Spurs who no longer had a job to do.

So, much as it seems that you would like it to be so, this isn't a matter of rich vs poor.

In other words, Tottenham Hotspur Football Club - one of the supposed élite in this country - taking taxpayers' money to pay its staff.

.....like the vast majority of companies throughout the UK (many far bigger than Spurs) that were facing the prospect of a massive hit to revenues.

And, unlike the vast majority of English clubs, including Premier clubs, Spurs have at least been significant contributors to the Exchequer over the years!

Playing these tonight. At Goodison. With half our squad injured. Fuck shit bollocks. At least Everton can ruin my weekend nice and early.

No? Your club is 1 of the wealthiest in world football. The players get paid a lot of money but here is the rub. Spurs will still be wealthy after covid, the players will also be wealthy after covid. However, the decent ordinary folk who get paid a pittance in comparison won’t be anywhere near whole after furlough. It will be a tough building job for them to get back in the black going forward. This is not necessarily a dig at Spurs but rather a societal issue. All being said the actions of your rotten club will not be forgotten. Self serving money grabbing wankers.

Well with your debts currently, )you will not be contributing to the Excheguer for several decades

The two are wholly unrelated!

Once everything is back to normal, I have no doubt that Spurs will become profitable once again. So they will pay tax regardless of the debt.

I fucking hate Spurs but you have to wonder WTF is going on when they announce a new sponsorship deal with Dulux only for the Dulux social media team to take the piss out of their lack of need of a trophy cabinet.

Very Spursy.

Adorable dog though.

Being one of the wealthiest clubs in world football isn't much use when you can't earn any revenues. At the time that Spurs made the decision to furlough, they were on the edge of a potentially catastrophic financial precipice. In the end, the catastrophe didn't transpire. But Levy didn't have the benefit of that hindsight.

As to Spurs being self serving, every club is. As a matter of interest, do you take the same political stance towards your owners?

In the circumstances, you could hardly be facing a better opponent!

We're both crap at the moment. The only difference being that we are further along the grieving cycle than you are. We have reached the numbed acceptance stage.

I don't know what Levy sees in Mourinho other than 'he's good for TV'. Do you prefer him to Poch or is he worse?
