Spurs Vs City Post Match Discussion thread

Roberto Mancini on BBC Sport: "I cannot believe we lost this game. We had it under control and played very well for 80 minutes.

"This was our problem this year. When we had a chance we did not score, it is the mirror of our season.

"Instead, we did not score, and after, we did two mistakes."

What pathetic comments from a manager.....Spurs scored in the 75th and 79th minute.

Mr. Mancini, I cannot believe you just sat on your arse and did nothing when Spurs brought the two midfield players on. We should have buried Spurs today as they were rubbish for 70 minutes.

Perhaps he had borrowed Fergies watch

Match review: Best team in the league
Brian kidd had an impressive press conference on Friday and after watching it, I hoped the players watched the conference but from todays performance, Im quite sure they didnt.

He made some piercing points, including the common belief that the best team always wins the premier league at the end of the season. I can submit that there are probably a range of criteria used to determine the best team in the league. But, from a criterion of squad quality, I actually think city actually have as good a team as utd, if not better despite the fact that we sabotaged our team in last summers transfer window.

Sabotage, incompetence, disinterest, lack of empathy, carelessness in the tansfer window ensured that the team that won the league last season is completely different from the team this season, not neccessarily in personell but in spirit and ambition. Injuries at bad times in the season did not help either.

The management staff have a job to do this summer.

So, Kidd is right, as today clearly shows why we are not the best team in the league and why we dont deserve to win the league.

Today we played OK in the first half and linked up well with Milner being an integral part especially in the right hand side. The injury to Milner and his absence in the second half completely changed the team's offensive design and made us less potent. Kolorov has a fantastic left foot but he is not a footballer like milner.

Im a big fan of Dzeko, but I have to admit that he had a game to forget today. Yaya was fustrating and ultimately ineffective whilst nasri was tantalising but failed to deliver as usual.( took the goal well, though).

I blame clichy for the first goal and the consequent outcome of this game. He chose to become narrow and gave walker the option to lay it to Bale, who was free on the right. What was worse was his lack of interest and desire in closing down bale to prevent the best player in the league from crossing the ball. Clichy has been immense since he came to the club and in many ways an unsung hero but today he should feel that he let the team down. But his lack of interest and idleness, perhaps reflects the whole mentality of the team today, particulary in the second half.

I would like to give spurs all the credit today. Great atmosphere, great energy and passion and never gave up. Defoe has all my respect and Bale is a beast. Ive been saying this ever since he was a kid and broke through the ranks that Huddlestone is one of the most technically gifted and elegant english players around but his career so far has been suprisingly subdued, perhaps due to niggling injuries and his slow tempo and style which is incompactible with the spurs approach.

Spurs have given themselves all the chances to qualify for the champions league with todays respectible and admirable effort and performance.

For us lot, the fixtures left on paper do not command fear but we should make sure that we finish with pride and dignity, win the FA cup and be wise, bold and ambitious in the transfer window.

I forcast a big season for Jack Rodwell next year.

Milner going off was a big game changer.

Kompany should never have shown Defoe inside. As soon as Defoe g it I said he will cut inside and shoot.

Played too high a line for the third.

I will give credit (unfortunately) to Tolmie[/size] he predicted 3-1 to the Spuds in the pre match thread, based on the signs of tiredness that were evident on Wednesday night. For 70 minutes we totally controlled them and made them look second rate. We desperately needed fresh legs in the last 20-25. It was odd to have Kun on the bench if he wasn't fit, and there was no Rodwell on the bench (correct me if I am wrong). I have to say that the bench was very thin. We have had to rely so much on Gaz and his ageing legs and I don't think that Sinclair will ever be the answer.

Didn't you know he is the Mystic Meg and Mother Theresa of Calcutta of Bluemoon - of course he gets everything right :-)

When they scored we didn't react, they did. Put on Defoe who I just knew was going to score and then we collapsed and Bale flew in behind and finished it.

I hope Milner was injured because otherwise why bring on Kolarov, to be fair he played better than me normally does but Milner is light years ahead of him at everything apart from set pieces. Even then is Kolarov really that good? Certainly not consistent.

milner was hamstring

I would play some of the kids in the remaining league games. The likes of Guidetti, Lopes and Suarez to give them some experience.

You could feel Spurs getting into the game little by little and the equaliser was coming unless we made changes - and we didn't. Should have brought Garcia on for Dzeko and packed the midfield. 1-1 would have been OK and if we'd retained our defensive discipline we might have hung on to the win or come away with a draw and prevented those red bastards from winning the league at home.

Played well for 70 mins, dominated the first half, but then after that it was a bit rubbish wasn't it.

All manner of horseshit will be sprouted by some here but it's just a mirror of our season. Next we'll be much better I'm sure of it.

9 points will guarantee top 3 (possibly less as Arsenal have the scum to play and Chelsea have scum and spurs), so the 3 home games are key. No keeping one eye on the cup final.
