Spurs vs City post match

Spurs were good, but what a brain fart by Pep. Wrong team selection. Subs far too late. I said how Spurs would play (who didn't think they would play like that?) yet Pep thought 4-1-4-1 with Fernando would do the business? (Seriously Pep, Fernando a player who can't pass forward to save his life as the 1!)
Shocking. Seriously poor from him.

Compounded by 4 shocking player performances.
Kolarov - Back to to normal.
Zaba - Over the hill. Just too slow now.
Otamendi - Went to ground far too often could have seen a red.
Bravo (Penalty save aside) - Far too often he made suicide passes to payers who would be closed down within 1/4 a second of receiving the ball

Teams are going to defend in our half every game now.

We were vulnerable going into this game with players missing and difficult preparation.

expect the same match against liverpool and arsenal unless something change. just before, the line up gave an indication about the outcome made that spuds team look like barcelona.
Guardiola need to wake up we didn't face top teams yet

A good lesson for pep and the boys, this is how the top teams will play against us, pool, arse etc. We'll learn from this and bounce back, to early in the season for it to be to damaging! Kolarov , zabs and navas should never start the big games. A bad day but we move on! CTID

I was expecting to get beat so not too disappointed. We should expect to be beaten by Arsenal and Liverpool away and that's it. So we have to make sure we are at least 3 points ahead of the rest of the pack by the time we play them.

we need new full backs, Navas shouldn't start hard away games, Fernando is just awful. Really missed Nolitto today

I'm fine with that. But, the problem is we don't look like winning against Liverpool or Tottenham even if we are playing at home. Our home form should be perfect, then we can afford to lose matches like today.

Best team won. We were dross until last 15 mins.

Zabaleta wank
Kolorov even worse
Navas wank
Fernando wank.

The rest average.

Not replacing the full backs once again is going to cost us. None of them are good enough for this level any more never mind europe.

Not replacing full backs and not replacing Fernando (and Delph) will cost us. Still too many poor players in the squad so there is a big drop off in quality from the first 11.

To be fair to Spurs, I don't think any team for the rest of the season will put in a better all round performance than that, they were excellent. The big teams always have their best game of the season against us, its been like that for a few years. They know how to beat us. Its about time we came up with a proper plan for these games.

Liverpool will push them close.

Arsenal and Liverpool can and probably will do the same to us maybe home and away as well. Today we were exactly like under Pellegrini, I am pretty sure we had very similar games under him last few season, where opponent with lesser quality was more hungry, pressing us, winning way more tackles, and scoring from their chances while we had no idea what to do really.

Strange Pep did not expect this kind of play from Spurs. If he did and still played Fernando, and the slower fullback combo than something is wrong.

Lets hope the Celtic draw and today is not a start of the rot that set in after last years fantastic 5 wins at the start. (Now after 6 wins.)

I hope Pep can sort this out while last season I was pessimistic with Pellegrini having ideas about dealing with it.

But we need to be able to get our players work their ass off off the ball just like Pochettino were able to dio it with his players today.

Pepe said he wont be unhappy after a bad game if players give their all in desire, well Spurs players had 200% more desire than us. Winning so much tackles, getting back to defend, press us high up even in second half instead of getting tired and ease off.

Problem is if other teams start to copy Celtic, Spurs succesfully against us.

Appaling 1st hlf, improved 2nd but it was almost impossible not to, zabba's time is up (legend), last few season's kolarov turned up again, fernando & navas nowhere near the level we need as has long been proved, doubt we'll be able to get the quality needed in in jan either? gonna be a tough season but we've the best man in charge so its onwards & upwards ctid

Have to hand it to spurs they were the better side today
They were quick and strong, well organized, and we had no answers
Spurs are a tough match up for us I think
their size and speed kept us on the wrong foot almost all day
Wanyama owned the midfield at the onset which set the tempo early.
Not worried though, the boys need to keep working and move ahead.
