Spurs vs City post match

Missed the game but why the hell did Zabaleta and kolarov start? Zabbas legs have gone and not a good pick against a pacey side. Clichy and sagna should been shoe ins

Felt we were struggling as soon as I saw Fernando was playing. If this fella hasn't been good enough to start in our other games how can he be picked for this? He was no good in Pellegrinis side when all he wanted out of him was a defensive midfielder. In Peps side that position is pivotal to the way we play and playing Fernando there is tantamount to tactical suicide. Fernandinho in that position has all the tools needed, he's quick, he's got a good first touch, he's good facing our own goal and he can pass. Fernando has none of these abilities. By playing Fernando you also negate other players eg Silva receives the ball a lot slower and has less space.

Then we get to Navas who is actually more of a threat for the opposition than he is for us, can someone explain why we have a £37m player sat on the bench who can't get on the pitch in front of this fraud? With no KDB our potency is reduced dramatically, putting Navas in then weakens us even further.

Spurs were good but not great, we played a huge part in our downfall with a piss poor starting XI.

Worst half of football we've played this season that first half. Only beaten by a harder working pressing side. First goal killed us but can't complain overall.

People won't like this but our worst player was Sergio. Watch his movement and work throughout the match and you'll see he was selfish greedy and lazy today.

Saying that we were very poor all over the pitch until Pep brought on Gundogan in the second half.

Overall pep was tactically outmanoeuvred by Poch today.

Let's see how we bounce back.

Pep will learn more from this defeat than the ten victories he will be assessing every aspect of this game , he's been at the club 3 months and has surpassed what i was expecting , thought it would be a difficult transition after MP's failure last season , and if you had said we would have 10 wins from the first 12 games i would have bitten your hand off , Pep will sort it.

Absolutely.

He has seen it two games on the trot now & he will fix it one way or another. He says he accepts mistakes when the team plays the right way. Kolarov in particular lumping the ball randomly, not making himself available, is not the right way, even if his defending gets excused.

It is pretty clear why Pep wanted to buy another technically superior CB (forgot the name of the Bilbao lad). It is also pretty clear that our fullbacks will be our achilles heel this season. Pep's system requires technically stronger defenders that do not get insecure when pressed.

Hopefully this will stop people getting too giddy, Pep is a brilliant manager and will certainly sort thongs out but he isn't a miracle worker.
We still have some of the same problems as last season

How was Spurs first goal not a foul on Silva?
I thought the same, however our performance didn't deserve a victory though. We need a (young) quality right back and quality left back...been crying out for both since last season.Strange tactical line up today too.Unfortunately,Raheem wasn't at the races this afternoon - Sane should have come on earlier for him and KDB was a big miss as he drives us on.

Ain't that the story for 90% of the losses over the last 3 seasons.

Too much fucking flapping on here. We are fucking top of the league with just 1 loss out of 7. We had a shit day but its not doomsday. Its like we were expected a 38 game unbeaten season. Also bravo to some on here on judging Pep today, he hasn't even got to know the players well. But hey we would be lucky to be top 4 this season according to some. Give it some fucking time and give you heads a wobble, its one game if it would have been 3 in a row in the league its different.

100% correct , just poured a nice Stella and a brandy chaser with ice , we move on

We was always going to have a dip in performance with the high intensity we play at. We didn't get a pasting, we looked leggy due to fatigue, nothing more nothing less. I'm not going to get out of my pram about today at all, we've just had 11 games won 9 drawn 1 lost 1. If that sequence carries on through the season It'll be happy days. A nice little breather for two weeks, pep and his team can take a well deserved break and pat themselves on the back, they've done a grand job. Roll on Everton.

The difference in movement in the forward lines between the two teams wa staggering. Nacho put aguero to shame with his movement when he came on.

Thats how I see it. Its just become a moaning forum on here with some. Its a great start, most of the people thought Pep would struggle initially and he din't, today he did. But he struggled in one game out of 11 not most of them like the media and some expected.

We should have played and set up for the draw in hindsight. That celtic game took out a lot from the players.
I think we did set up for a draw or at least to be better defensively. We were wank. Our only form f defence at this moment is attack.

Zabba and Kolarov shouldn't have played against a very quick team who press high up the pitch.
Fernando offered very little and although he made a great save from the penalty Bravo frightens me with how long he needs on the ball to decide where he's going to play it. Too often he plays it to a player who is under pressure and it causes them to pass back to him.
We definitely missed KDB and Nolito, but 18 from 21 is a very decent return.
No need to panic but Pep needs to reassess his full backs when we play the red dippers etc.

So fucking predictable.

4 away games on the bounce in ten days,Spurs played very well at home, credit where it's due.

Bad day at the office.
