SSN - Newcastle Ban Joey

I used to really like him as well.

I loved his attitude on the pitch. he was really up for it. Watched him come through as a kid, and the way he used to go around all the senior pros as a kid, geeing them up before a League Cup tie (which they weren't bothered about) made a big impression on me

To an extent I think Newcastle are scapegoating him to takethe pressure off Shearer. How many times have you seen Ronaldo kick out at someone this season, and no action is taken? How many times does Rooney and Scholes dive in two footed? Or essien?

Joey can't control his anger, but at least he has real passion for the game.

part of me would like him back at City, but I know he'd just let the club, and himself down again.

think more of this is what happend after the game rather than the sending off

What a surprise, the usual suspects are apparently in for Barton: Stoke, Bolton and Blackburn at the head of the queue.

<a class="postlink" href="http://www.guardian.co.uk/football/2009/may/05/newcastle-united-joey-barton-blackburn-rovers" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;">http://www.guardian.co.uk/football/2009 ... urn-rovers</a>

Newcastle United are willing to take a big loss on the £5.8m they paid for Joey Barton to get rid of the midfielder this summer and are confident of finding a buyer. Blackburn Rovers have expressed interest in the 26-year-old and Stoke City, Bolton Wanderers and Portsmouth are also thought to be prepared to bid, despite the player's long list of misdemeanours.

Barton has played his last game for Newcastle following an argument with the manager, Alan Shearer, after his sending-off against Liverpool last Sunday and senior club officials have confirmed they are desperate to get rid of him.

Blackburn's manager, Sam Allardyce, signed Barton for Newcastle almost two years ago from Manchester City and is ready to offer him another fresh start. Allardyce claimed at the time that he could control the player's volatile temper.

Newcastle confirmed yesterday that Barton, who cannot play in the club's remaining three games because of a ban for his red card, has been suspended until further notice and will not be welcome at the training ground. That decision was made by Shearer, who is furious at being called a "shit manager" by Barton in front of his team-mates at Anfield, and was endorsed by the chairman, Derek Llambias, and the owner, Mike Ashley.

Llambias and Ashley had been keen to offload Barton last summer when he was jailed for assault following an incident outside a McDonald's restaurant in Liverpool in December 2007, but were persuaded not to sell by the club's former manager Kevin Keegan.

Privately Newcastle accept that they will have to take a loss on Barton in the circumstances but a senior source at St James' Park said: "There are a number of clubs interested in him. He has played his last game for the club. Alan Shearer has the board's full backing in this matter. Joey's behaviour was disgraceful and utterly unacceptable. He has run out of chances at this football club."

Shearer is also incensed by the fact details of the dressing-room row with Barton were leaked and an investigation has been launched to identify the culprit.
