Shearer takes charge of the Barcodes!

Wondered why he's not been punditting lately.

Those team talks in Newcastle are going to be exciting, not.

He seems to have been turning the job down for years and now he's going to take over just as they're poised to go down? Don't make no sense to me.

Exactly.

He's in a no win situation. Either they stay up, in which case their supporters will say "we should have stayed up anyway" or they go down and he becomes an instant villian after a decade giving his all for them.

It looks to me like they're planning for a Championship campaign early... i cant understand why else Shearer would say yes now!?

A couple of wins in the feel-good honeymoon period and they stay up. You know what the geordies are like when they get fanatical about their own...

They will play well for a few games due to the new manager (like most teams) they will stay up and he will be more of a hero and then pack in.
