Lovely shirt. Had mine for a few years now.

Me too mate. Surprising, and a little disappointing that so many ask what kit it is though.

All the more reason to wear it and educate the likes of theoriginalkippaxman

You sure you could easily be mistaken for Himmler in a top like that, oh connotations of wearing a black shirt with a white cross.
P.S. looks good though.

Dont know if true but the kit was something to do with Llanelli RUFC

I was wearing mine and was approached by a guy who was a Rugby nut asking me about it.

Have to agree with some other posters on here and say that unfortunately the badge reminds me too much of the Nazis. Even though it has been rightly stated the cross is used in other recognisable symbols I just think others wouldn't realise that and I would stand out as an NF supporter. So definitely a no go for me.

Grow a pair you softarse.

Takes a few seconds to educate people as to why you wear it.

You shouldn't need to have to educate people but if you are happy to walk around looking like a racist go for it. Then again you probably are a shithouse racist.

Fucking hell, you don't half talk a complete load of bollocks.

Anyone confusing the cross with anything Nazi is an idiot quite franky - but then I guess the world is full of idiots.

Clearly it isn't a swastika. Even if you confuse it with the German Iron Cross - this is a military medal dating from the Napoleonic Wars and, I assume, deriving from the Teutonic Knights.

The issue is no one knows what it is or why it was on the kit - this was debated at some length when the St Marks info first came out. Clearly it is either Templar Cross, Hospitaller Cross - or it's derivative/sister the Maltese Cross - or less likely a Teutonic Kinghts cross.

But all these entities were clearly Catholic, whereas St Marks Gorton was Protestant.

The best answer that has been put forward is that the kit was aquired as a job lot at a time when there was no money and they took what they could beg or borrow.

this is about the sum of it really, just an olden christian emblem that somehow ended up on a formitive club's strip!

Now, it does have German connotations, purely as they used it in the old empire, WW1 and then WW2 (Hitler did use this cross patee with a swastika inside of it) but it is a far more benign symbol than the swastika, it's more a german military award than anything. Apparently some neo-nazi groups are still fond of it but i dont really know much about that.

i'd say any wariness people have about others wearing this badge is purely association and lack of awareness - it carries absolutely nothing like the level of symbolism of the swastika etc and is just a maltese cross at the end of the day!! now if you want to be thought of as a crusader.....
