It's no use to me as my entrance is on the South side of the ground but it looks like it would suit people in the North or West stands.
25mins from the city centre to the Etihad Campus is somewhat optimistic. It's a walk I do for most games as I'm fortunate enough to be able to do so, often getting soaked but that's Manchester for you. But for those less able or unable to do such a walk, the transport links and traffic gridlock around the area are terrible and getting worse.

Agree, the Metrolink thread is an outlet for us all to highlight the absolutely useless and not fit for purpose “service” they provide to the Etihad campus, including Coop Live and soon ABBA thingy. The matchday bus thread is a very useful conduit for us to communicate to @matchdaybus about an excellent initiative which is a godsend to many blues. Don’t merge them
Personally don't think there could be enough transport threads on this football forum

Hi all, just to let you know that we've been informed of an emergency one-way closure on Alan Turning Way, due to a cavity being found under the carriageway. This has gone in this afternoon and is expected to still be in place for the Liverpool game.

The closure will be from the junction with Ashton Old Road to the junction with Grey Mare Lane, on both lanes of the northbound carriageway (towards the Etihad).

As it stands the diversion routes will be westbound Ashton Old Road, Great Ancoats Street, and Ashton New Road. And eastbound Ashton Old Road, Fairfield Road, Edge Lane, and Ashton New Road.

If you usually drive to the Etihad make sure to add extra time as this will cause additional congestion and delays on match day.

Emergency Closure on Alan Turing Way – Please Plan Ahead!

A cavity has been discovered beneath the carriageway on Alan Turing Way, and for safety reasons an emergency one‑way closure is now in place.

⏳ Duration: From today, for approximately 3 weeks
Location: Northbound carriageway from Ashton Old Road to Grey Mare Lane – both lanes closed

To help you get around, diversion routes are now active:
➡️ Westbound Diversion:
Ashton Old Road → Great Ancoats Street → Ashton New Road
⬅️ Eastbound Diversion:
Ashton Old Road → Fairfield Road → Edge Lane → Ashton New Road

Thank you for your patience while crews work to repair the issue and keep everyone safe. Please allow extra travel time and follow the signed routes.

Just got our parking booked for the green car park. Don’t understand those diversions, but seems like the closed section is on the south side of the Ashton Old Road.
If anyone sees this closure, or any further details, can you please advise how/if we can get into the green car park.
Booked Vermillion last time and now wish I’d done that again. :-(

what direction are you coming from?

From south, usually come off the motorway around Stockport and slalom up depending on sat nav!! :-)
I’ve seen a link to Facebook posts with a map now, so I’m assuming I can just come from a northerly direction and turn right at the Asda turning?

looks like it. If you come in from the south west you will be ok as well. I often park in Green car park and approach it from north east along Bradford Road or from South West via Pollard Street or Every Street. Easy to get to it mate. Not as easy to get away ;-). Best route I have found is back onto Bradford Road then Varley Street and then Collyhurst Street turning right onto Rochdale Road and up to M62. I have tried the route through town and West onto the M62 but that usually is a deal slower. Hope you enjoy the game.

ps. dont tell anyone but leaving a bit early if the games done makes a huge difference.

That’s fine. It’s not affecting there. May be busier though.

Thanks for the help.
Almost always used the blue car park, but recently found the green car park and got away ok. Madrid game only Vermillion was left and we went via the Oldham road to the M60 and it was one of the best exits we have had for a night game. I guess it’s more luck than judgement as so many different factors.
Often taking our boy back to Stoke before we head back to Worcestershire, so it’s a bastard whatever in the end!
Oh, and we ALWAYS clap the players off :-) but I get your point!

I do find the Blue car park a damn sight easier to get away from.

Just been past the hole in the road. You won't be able to turn left from Ashton Old Road towards the ground. Fine on the other side. Definitely looks like it will be there for a while.

If GMPTE were reduce ticket prices on the matchday buses, there might be significant scope to increase passenger numbers and perhaps shift people out of cars. I have noticed that the many passengers are OAPs and likely use the matchday buses because they are free to them. I can get the matchday bus from New Mills but it costs the same price to get the train. They should be cheaper imo!

I have noticed on the news that in some places across the world, the authorities have made public transport free in response to the fuel prices / scarcity. An interesting thought.

Also we’re just back from Budapest where I was asked at least 3 times if I was 65. (64 in 3 weeks) ALL public transport free to over 65’s - including tourists.

Local buses are free in Tenerife for residents, are frequent and are always very busy. It doesn't appear to have reduced the amount of car traffic though but it is a small island.
