Stadium Developments thread - New Birmingham City Stadium revealed (p57)

Disagree. Its different.
I quite like the design, apart from the chimneys, which look bloody awful, I think mainly because there is no obvious purpose to them, OK they are hiding the roof support system, but why do that? It's just bad post modernism and looks tacky. It'll suprise me if it ever gets built though, I wouldn't have thought that Brum have the resources to do it.

Was told by someone who would absolutely know that the shites new stadium will start next season.
They are spending absolutely bare minimum on maintaining old toilet in the mean time
Not even bought the land yet, then the design will still be wip. Will then have to go to planning permission and could face challenges They will have to appoint the contractors having to negotiate contracts. If they persist with the modular design, shipped down the Ship Canal then there will be a lot of work required on bridges and dredging Next year, even towards the end to break ground seems optimistic

Ill r

Ill rephrase; the wheels will be set on motion. They are spending absolute bare minimum on maintenance because they wont be at OT in the near future

Their owners have the resources and the plan is for it to host events other than football including NFL Rugby and concerts with a closed roof it’s part of a greater sports complex as well

Stadium expansion for Forrest

Clubs certainly seem to be either moving forward or pretending to. We need to put at least one more piece in place on the stadium.

Also seems like clubs are putting more effort and quicker into stuff around grounds, Villa, Birmingham, United, Leicester ? Also seem to have just come out with ideas we seem to have known about something for ages then waited and waited then done the training facilities then co op then womens facilities then hotel and then some more stuff probably

The USA is miles ahead when it comes to stadium design.

Most of the stadiums being built have entertainment districts attached near the stadiums so making more money for the clubs featuring bars, etc

Halo scoreboards came from Altanda Stadium and Sofi in LA, now featuring in the Real Madrid stadium.

Just look at what is coming down the pipeline in the USA

But is currently the most backward nation on earth being run by a thundercunt so horses for courses I guess..

do we know why there are no stadiums in the UK that have a closed roof being used in football?

I know the millenium stadium and wembley have to an extent closed roofs but I'm sure there is some daft ruling?

Imagine the amount of games that would go ahead still in bad weather etc

I've never understood Wembley's "closing" roof which basically just slides across a bit - seems a bit pointless to me unless its some kind of compromise to allow sun on the pitch when needed or to provide more protection to fans when it rains

When was the last time a game in a major stadium got cancelled due to weather
