Newcastle St James’ overview of situation
This was the planned Chelsea stadium design. Not sure if it’s going ahead anymore though. If things come back to the table then it’s possible there could be a more cost effective design instead.
I'd love it if Boehly resurrected this.
What an incredible design.
In short.
It'll get demolished after 5 years of Saudi influence and on the council and pressure from the already Saudi influenced government.

It's a latter day 21st century cathedral complete with flying buttresses! Modern Gothic? I likey!
It's just so much more interesting than another 21st century glass bowl stadium.
The kind of building you can imagine being a landmark in 50 years long after the Emirates and new Spurs stadium have become dated.

The talk now is of each stand being rebuilt one by one and it being a bit of a remodel.

They'll threaten to build a new ground somewhere else instead and soon get their way! Sunderland would be a good location for it.
Won't be necessary, they'll just say "Sorry guys, we'd just love to invest £1bn in regenerating Newcastle but we might have to spend that money on finding a solution to the expanding the stadium some other way now you've said the houses have to stay..."
