Stadium expansion, any news?

Milans Stadium was built for Italia 90 not the club sides.
But they get 87000 when they need to. Barca get 93000 wen they need to. They get nowhere near that a lot of the time but in doing it, even just ten times a season, that's ten times where a huge amount of money is made ontop of what they usually get on their average gates.

And I'm not saying let's build a 90k stad, but 65000 at competitive prices and if we sell out twelve Prem games, three-six CL games and one domestic cup game a season - even if our average attendance is 55000 - we'll make LOADS more money than we currently do.

But thats not the point is it, there was a commercial drive behind the Milan stadium build for the WC. City will expand when they think it makes commercial sense which won't be too long. I wish too that they would do it sooner rather than later but one thing I have learn't about the Sheikh's regime here is that they can be trusted to do what is best for the success of the club.

Any movement or plans to extend it?
3 years premature for expansion.

I'd be more concerned about the cost of expanding the stadium. I mean look at it, its basically a concrete bowl which has little expansion possibilities.

Just do what the plans are, before we moved a tier behind both goals will raise the crowd to 60k and that will do for the next 20 years

An extra tier at each end will only add around 3000. I think currently each end only holds 6k each.

the plans were we could raise the gate to 60k+ if we forked out the money to do it

But that process you are talking about means taking off the entire roof of the stadium of which is not financially viable. It would be cheaper to build a new stadium almost.

I know think it was in the region of 25m to do it but that was when we first moved in probably a lot more now but a lot less than a new stadium

Don't need it, 47k plenty, was good to play Wigan in front of a full house, if it had been 65k we would have had plenty of blues seats to look at.

CL on weds and 1000s of seats left = no expansion required.
Carling Cup = no 3rd tiers required ?

Colin Bell Stand and East Stand Level 3 closed for the Birmingham game. Tickets are available in "premium" areas where some people would normally dream of sitting (I know because I got a great one in the South Stand!).

all the info about stadium expansion can be found in the Las Vegas thread
