Barcelona sign a shirt deal till 2016 at £25m a year.... UEFA say nothing

City sign a 10 year deal at a reported £12m a year... UEFA to "look at"

UEFA wouldn't be able to say shit.
If it's £400m it would account to £40m a year.
You're missing the point. City have been clever. Barca's £25m per year is purely a shirt sponsorship deal. The deal City signed today is SO much more! Impossible for UEFA to prove what the "fair value" is by using a benchmark when it's the first arrangement of it's kind in world football.

Cook 1 - 0 Platini

Irrelevant. The deal is with the Emirates not ADUG. The Emirates are not related to MCFC

My take on it is this, UEFA made these rules specifically to stop clubs like City competing with the established order, we all know this. I have no doubts that the club and Etihad will have released this in public knowing everything is correct and in line with the FFP regulations but I'm paranoid UEFA will do anything to prevent us reaching the top and will try and have us over somehow.

One thing is for sure though, if it get's the green light were set and it's a matter of time until we're champions of Europe.

whos really arsed about the name?

we'll always be super city from maine road in my eyes

I don't there's many City fans who are bothered. It's everyone else being offended on our behalf. Laughable really!

Our spiritual home was and always will be Maine Road, but we said goodbye to that a long time ago and no one's attached to The City of Manchester name so why would anyone bother that it's now The Etihad Stadium, especially when it means more money in our burgeoning coffers...?

But like most of us realise this isn't just about the stadium... "There is no finish line to the total package... There's so much more opportunity inside (The Campus) (but we're) not going to go into the details of the items within that..." (Garry Cook 8/7/11)

As a quick comparison, in 2008 Etihad signed a sponsorship deal worth £60M over 3 years.

Rag media will try and trample on everything!

The deal is with Etihad, an Abu Dhabi airline, who have two half-brothers of Sheikh Mansour on the board. It probably will be considered a related party transaction and therefore assessed for fair value. The quotes I have seen suggest they're going to argue it represents fair value because it amounts to the sponsorship of a considerable area of Manchester, a city very much on the up.
