Do we need the money?

Why not the Frank Swift Stadium? That would, really, really, wind the fuckers up.

Does FFPR mean anything to you?

Yes, but stadium naming rights are a drop in the proverbial. Reducing the wage bill and increasing capacity are what needs to happen.

Something like £8-10m a year is a drop?..tell me, you realise that it´s equal to us upping our attendances to around 65-70k moneywise or?

Re: Stadium Naming Rights

When you consider that all of our principal sponsors right now, excluding Thomas Cook and Key 103 who predate our current owners, are companies that Sheikh Mansour has a sizable holding in I can't imagine there is much chance of the stadium naming rights going to a company that isn't linked to him. I think one of the big draws for him when buying City was that any money his companies pumped into sponsorship deals would make their way back into his pocket.

We've been used to this naming rights thing for 20 years here in Yankland.

Main thing is, don't get a stupid sounding one. Etihad sounds cool, Apple would be epic. Or you could get really unlucky. :/

I think for a lot of stadiums that get named after a corporation, the old stadium name still sticks with the fans. Just like how New England stadium is technically Gilette Stadium, a lot of people still call it Foxborough, after the town. Same would be for us, I think. YOu aren't going to hear many people say 'I'm heading to the Ferostaal (sp)', it'll still be COMS or Eastlands.

Naming rights definitely is no big deal and a great source of revenue.

Martin Ogden from the Telegraph:

EXCLUSIVE: Manchester City has agreed a naming rights deal for the City of Manchester Stadium with Etihad airline, two sources say.

I'm going for 'Etihad Arena'

Re: Stadium Naming Rights.

No surprises.

What will be a surprise to most is the size of the deal......
