Stadium Turnstile Upgrades

There goes the burner phone :) that article did make me laugh though, how thick do they think we all are ? Won’t affect my lot for league games as we don’t miss many between us, but cup games are a bit different, sometimes I ditch the mrs & take a mate, or the lad has work commitments amongst other stuff, so we’ll probably ditch all three cup schemes & I’ll buy as & when

We share my ticket around. Are you thinking they’re going to make that impossible?

Sure. We've just spent several million upgrading turnstiles to include facial recognition instead of employing 'Bert' to stand at the staff entrance on a zero hours contract to check passes.

I'm sure plenty of others will have received this email from City but for the benefit of anyone that hasn't seen it:

Now that the domestic season is over, we are upgrading the turnstiles at both the Etihad Stadium and Joie Stadium as part of our stadium-wide efforts to invest in the latest technology.

The new turnstiles, the installation of which began this week, will over time make entry quicker and easier for fans.

What this means for you
Apart from the addition of a new screen for scanning your ticket, the new turnstiles will not affect the way you enter the stadium on a matchday.

In line with our commitment to incorporating the latest technology stadium-wide, the new turnstiles are being installed with cameras so that some staff can display their accreditation but the cameras will not be in operation on a matchday for fans as they enter the stadium.

Because of the upgrade, current mobile Season Tickets will no longer be active. Here’s what to expect:

  • From next week, your Season Ticket will move to the expired section of your phone wallet – or you can delete it manually.

  • Ahead of next season, we will send you a new Season Ticket to download, along with simple instructions and more information about the new turnstiles. Downloading your new pass will be straight forward with only a few steps.

  • Fans who use a physical Season Ticket for accessibility reasons will be contacted separately, and a replacement season ticket will be issued to them.

  • Our Fan Support team will be running a dedicated support service to help with any issues. More details will be shared nearer the time.

Should you have any questions about the new turnstiles or the steps for downloading your new Season Ticket, please do not hesitate to contact our dedicated Fan Support team.

Thanks for your continued support as we enhance your stadium experience.

Is this a soft signal?

If you're not doing anything wrong, why worry about cameras? You're covered by about 500 CCTV cameras once you are inside the ground anyway
By that logic, if I don't do anything wrong, why should I have a camera trained on me?

That's the perfectly understandable civil liberties argument.

Miss 3 or 4 games soon and your season card will be whipped off you, always coming were turning into the rags

What I will say, I reckon at at least 10 of the away grounds we visited this season these turnstiles were in place. Much quicker entry. Should imagine the pass will be QR rather than NFC as they have been previously.

These were put on entrance Y but I could no longer use it to get the the SS from 2015 so not sure if anything happened with them.

Absolutely, thing with City is it’s like cops & robbers, and we aren’t the dibble. Always fighting to stay one step ahead, it’s the same with ST purchasing, always needing to guess what the future criteria will be. I’m predicting a lot of empty seats, people won’t risk their ST’s so will sell back to the club, unless we are playing elite football the numbers just aren’t there yet

I don’t understand the ‘argument’ “if you are not doing anything wrong why do the cameras worry you”.
They don’t worry me they annoy me because I prefer my privacy thank you.
I detest this being spied on wherever I go. It’s the same when I take a parcel in for neighbours. I appear to be the only house without one of those ubiquitous doorbell cameras.
I do not like being spied on thank you. :-)
