I hope City are adhering to GDPR?
It's very important.
Negelct or misuse, if proven, can incure a large fine.
GDPR stands for the General Data Protection Regulation. It's a European Union regulation that sets guidelines for how personal data should be collected, used, and protected. In essence, it's a privacy law that gives individuals more control over their personal data.
If City aren't going to film you and me on match days 'as City have stated', why have cameras been installed on the turnstiles? They won't be necessary, will they?
Reckon City will try to claim they currently won' t be storing any personal identifiable information on these turnstile cameras.
But you're right there are some rather large fines associated to not protecting personal data, with some reaching up to 4% of turnover.
Nothing would surprise me these days with City & the recent scouting database 'hacking' scandal doesn't exactly fill me with confidence.
Yep spot on, I suspect this season is just the ‘softening up process’ before asking us to upload photos/facial scans next year or the year afterIt looks that way doesn't it but they can't do it for next season off the back of saying it is only for staff on non match days. I can see a scenario season after next where they claim after a successful trial they will introduce it to fans? I just can't see City fans, after what has happened recently, would accept being that openly lied to for the coming season
Yeah that’s total bollocks imo, just an excuse for installing it in the first placeI don’t really care but the staff thing makes no sense.
I’ve never once seen a member of staff entering the ground via the regular turnstiles.
Only place I’ve ever seen them coming in are in W entrance, which doesn’t even have a turnstile. And presumably the ‘late’ gates at the other three corners of the ground.
I resent that as well. But I really do not understand why going to a football match needs me to have my photo taken and all this surveillance.
Plus I use a credit card so rarely they forget I exist!
Why is it so wrong of me to want to reduce the chances of protecting my privacy as much as possible?
That’s what I don’t understand.
Maybe I’ll join this Civil Liberties group mentioned in the post above ….. mmmmm no I won’t because I’ll have to give them too much information.
I don’t know why I attended all those data protection training sessions if everything is going on facial recognition now!!
GDPR was what I was referring to earlier.I hope City are adhering to GDPR?

The image of an individual is classed as personal data.
City need a lawful basis to be able to use that data and this must be clearly communicated in a privacy notice.
Why bother at all if it's not going to affect you.At what point do you start bothering?
Think about it, and if it has no affect on your day then move on.Oh it doesn’t impinge on my consciousness it’s just when it comes up in a discussion like this one I begin to think about it.
:-)
So you thought you'd get FSA and Liberty on the case, and ask other posters why they're not bothered yet you don't know any actual details?I thought they were trialing the uploading of photos?
I'm sure plenty of others will have received this email from City but for the benefit of anyone that hasn't seen it:

Now that the domestic season is over, we are upgrading the turnstiles at both the Etihad Stadium and Joie Stadium as part of our stadium-wide efforts to invest in the latest technology.
The new turnstiles, the installation of which began this week, will over time make entry quicker and easier for fans.
What this means for you
Apart from the addition of a new screen for scanning your ticket, the new turnstiles will not affect the way you enter the stadium on a matchday.
In line with our commitment to incorporating the latest technology stadium-wide, the new turnstiles are being installed with cameras so that some staff can display their accreditation but the cameras will not be in operation on a matchday for fans as they enter the stadium.
Because of the upgrade, current mobile Season Tickets will no longer be active. Here’s what to expect:
From next week, your Season Ticket will move to the expired section of your phone wallet – or you can delete it manually.
Ahead of next season, we will send you a new Season Ticket to download, along with simple instructions and more information about the new turnstiles. Downloading your new pass will be straight forward with only a few steps.
Fans who use a physical Season Ticket for accessibility reasons will be contacted separately, and a replacement season ticket will be issued to them.
Our Fan Support team will be running a dedicated support service to help with any issues. More details will be shared nearer the time.
Should you have any questions about the new turnstiles or the steps for downloading your new Season Ticket, please do not hesitate to contact our dedicated Fan Support team.
Thanks for your continued support as we enhance your stadium experience.

Well I’ve seen the email from City. That’s why the FSA & Liberty should be consulted. So you thought you'd get FSA and Liberty on the case, and ask other posters why they're not bothered yet you don't know any actual details?
The e-mail that clearly states, ''Facial recognition will not be used on matchdays.'' ?Well I’ve seen the email from City. That’s why the FSA & Liberty should be consulted.
I can’t remember the exact wording of every post I read on here. I don’t have time to wade back through historical posts. But there was reference to this before the City email was sent.
That shouldn’t preclude me from asking why posters aren’t bothered about the introduction of this.
Why install them on turnstiles then? The e-mail that clearly states, ''Facial recognition will not be used on matchdays.'' ?
They’ve missed off the ‘yet’… from that sentenceThe e-mail that clearly states, ''Facial recognition will not be used on matchdays.'' ?
It was more than enough for the privacy and data protection regulator to be interested 6 years ago, to the extent that they contacted City directly wanting to know precisely what they were up to.Well I’ve seen the email from City. That’s why the FSA & Liberty should be consulted.
