Can I refuse facial recognition in the UK?

There is no general power for the police to force people to make their face available to be filmed using facial recognition technology. You are therefore entitled to refuse to have your face scanned. You are entitled to cover your face so that a camera cannot capture an image of it.

Also.

And I’m nearer there than my peak years
But as always, I don’t assume my experience is universal
People have different skills and access to technology, much depending on socioeconomic conditions, social class, race etc
A bit snide to be dissing people who aren’t as tech savvy as others imo
What scan your phone to enter, which he has done for how many years ?

Unless you've got something to hide there is absolutely fuck all wrong with this and it certainly makes me feel 100% safer in a crowded environment.

And breath...first world problems eh...
I remember my Dad getting frustrated with a video recorder when I was younger and it came ever so easily to me. I'm actually quite good with some modern tech. I have to use a fair bit in my job and I don't have a problem with that. It's more the stuff that we are forced to do to carry on enjoying things. Football tickets are a nightmare these days as we've all experienced. It's no better than when we used to queue around Maine Road. It was more fun, we had a laugh, made friends and spoke to each other and it made memories. Now its sanitised with a click on the laptop, waiting in line whilst it counts down and then crashes and you start all over again.

Another example and its only a small thing but its something that Ive done for the best part of 40yrs has been taken away. Im somebody who likes to go to live gigs and I have over 700 ticket stubs but that's now almost gone unless I buy a souvenir ticket which ticketmaster offers (another way of making money) and everything is now downloaded onto the phone. It's a part of being a music collector that has now gone. Kids of the future won't have that and understand that. In the same way nobody will ever spend a night taking out a shoebox of old photos and having a great time going through them reminiscing. Everyone has thousands of photos on their phones that are hardly if ever looked at again after 10 minutes of being taken. There's a whole lot more of these type of things that in my opinion shows we have lost some of the pleasures of life.

And then at the other end of the scale we have the impact smart phones are having on our young people spending on average 7/8 hours on a school day and up to 19 hours on weekend days on TikTok, Snapchat, youtube, gaming etc. which is all to a detrimental effect which leads to disconnect. This is way too complicated and detailed for here and Ive drifted from the initial subject but its all a part of the bigger picture that is being missed, read the anxious generation by Johnathan Haidt where we have reached a crisis point with technology and the next generation. Read a book now theres a novel idea!

And city are entitled to not let you in

Why?

What have I done wrong?

City would have to put that in the T&C's of a season ticket.

City can't stop me from going into the Etihad if I don't want my face to be videoed for facial recognition. That's not a reason to stop me and others from entering the Etihad.

How are City going to let football fans, away fans into home ends when they buy match tickets off 1 of the 9 ticket selling partner websites. They won't have their faces on facial recognition at the Etihad.

What about City fans who just go to the odd game every season when they can get a ticket? Are they really going to comply with and piss about with facial recognition just to see the odd match?

So now we're at a 10 game minimum must attend rule, and possible facial recognition, to keep your season ticket, and to gain entry into the Etihad.

FFS, when and where is it going to end?

Like 10,000's of other City fans I'm just going to the match to watch City play, which I've done for the last 48 years since I was 9 years old.

I bet the directors, Khaldoon, etc won't have to use facial recognition to get into the Etihad. They will just waltz through the CB main entrance flanked by security.

Correct me if I'm wrong but have you got something to hide?... Hmmm.

He has something to hide because he doesn't care to be in Orwell's 1984 and would rather queue a little longer rather than make it easy for big corp and govt to collect his data?

Globalism has made people lazy minded, civil liberties come first they are not an afterthought and we are not drones.
