Standing in front of over 44k knowing you have lost your job

I'm gutted he's been sacked. This time last season we lost at WBA. That was the time to make the change in my opinion.I think that despite a dodgy back line we arent a million miles away from being a top side.

Thanks Mark. I appreciate all your efforts over the past 18 months.

You made a few mistakes, but who doesnt at work. I do.

I wish you all the best & hope next time you are at Comms you get a decent reception.

wonder what Hughes will be thinking if Mancini walks out at Wembley, something like that should be me.

In a way, Hughes can't lose. If we finish higher in the league or win the cup - he'll be able to say he laid the foundation. If we don't improve or go out in the semi - he'll shrug his shoulders, have a good laugh and think if only they had stuck with me.........and all the while be able to dwell on the big fat bank account.

In response to the OP - Hughes handled it with class. I was not sure about him when he was taken on. I was never in the IN or OUT camps. I just hope that this is not just City f***ing up again. But one thing I am sure of Hughes has my respect. He showed his mettle today and went out with his head held high.

What you saw today in front of the 44k, was but a glimpse of what was to come. Dignity, grace, professionalism. We haven't had that since Joe Mercer.

well, today, absolutely, he was dignity personified. I'm not sure he's been like that all the time, but his performance today was impressive. It put me in mind of how he maintained the dignity of the club during the last days of the Thaksin reign. He was an immense asset to this club during that time. That was what convinced me to stick with him through the time we spent in the relegation zone last year. I'm ashamed to say it had slipped my mind until today. There were less dignified moments too, I could never forget the hatchet job on the players this time last year. the times when he belittled what had gone before him to 'manage expectations', and he's been less than dignified in interviews and on the touchline on occassions, but these are trivial compared to the importance of that two month period after he took over. You went out the right way Mark, I'm glad you had the opportunity to show that side of yourself to the watching world today.

A rare lapse in judgement from the owners. Hughes is a decent man and deserved better treatment than that.

standing in front of 44k knowing you've lost your job AND knowing your due for a £5m pay off NOT that hard really. That said, I do feel sorry for him. But get real mate.

Correct.

I demonstrated all those attributes on Friday when I got made redundant. Difference is I got four weeks money and not a £5m pay off.

anybody have any pictures or video of him waving goodbye?

All said, still looking forward to having Mancini.

You seriously think footballers get into management just because of the money? You think the pay off will dramtically effect his financial standings?

I think Hughes will be much more occupied over what 'could have been' had he stillbeen in charge, as opposed to some short sighted financial windfall.
