Star Wars Battlefront 3

After finding out there's no SP mode

Played the beta tonight. Not as bad as i was anticipating but hasn't convinced me it's worth a purchase. Far too COD like with the health/damage for my liking. Gameplay in general is just a case of trying to find a vehicle/weapon/weapon placement that's bigger and better so that you can easily mow down the smaller standard enemies and if you don't manage to luck out on the pickups and get one of them, you're essentially just cannon fodder and can't have any impact on the game until you do find one. I understand it's only a beta and they'll no doubt be better equipment when levelled up but it's far too hard to take down the AT-AT's. Played about 8-10 games tonight, experienced both sides and every single time the AT-AT's won without it even being close. Never actually spawned in the AT-AT's but it's ridiculous how the person that gets in it is pretty much guaranteed to finish top of the leaderboards with most kills, least deaths and most points. They've replicated the star wars theme very well in fairness to them but that's nothing more than a gimmick. I maintain my opinion that for anybody who enjoys their competitive fps's this won't last more than a few days before the appeal disappears.

The trick as the rebels is its ABSOLUTELY key to win the battle in the air, unless the rebels have air superiority (The rebels X-Wings and A-Wings are actually better than the TIE fighters by some way) its nigh impossible to bring down the AT-ATs. The guys on the ground need to hold the relays for as long as possible and fire everything they have at the AT-AT's when they become vulnerable, this combined with continual fire from the X-Wings and A-Wings will bring the AT-ATs down fairly quick. Another way to do it is to plant a orbital strike on the AT-AT when the shields drop, as this knocks about half their health out straight away. It look a long time for us to figure it out and its far from easy to manage, but its definitely winnable as the rebels, you just have to keep the skies clear of TIE fighters.

Why doesn't someone release a single player game with all the gear, speeder bikes, attacking death star, snow speeders, light sabers, the lot, now that would be awesome!!! They've been done in the past just need a sparkling new one.
Waiting patiently am I....

There's no single player campaign it's online only.

Why on earth would you spend all the time and money they've clearly spent on this game and simply decide to not bother with a SP element to the game? I'm not a fan of online gaming, really can't be arsed with it if I'm honest, so a game with zero SP potential is simply a waste of time, I can't imagine I'm alone in not bothering with online gaming. To basically ignore an entire group of gaming fans seems negligent.

Their argument was that people hardly ever played the single person campaigns so they didn't bother to add one.

I played the beta and I really don't know what to think. The graphics and sound design is amazing and the game was pretty fun but with only one map and 4 guns to choose from it's hard to form an opinion on if it's worth spending £40 on.

Cheers for the tips, will give it another go before the beta ends. I got the chance to go in a tie fighter once but couldn't handle it without inverting the controls. I still think it's fairly poor design for one side to be so heavily reliant on winning the aerial battle, especially when it's random as to who and when people can spawn in them.

A-Wings are a different era of star wars than this game is set in, you mean Y-Wings bro. Yeah, im that guy.

Went back and gave it another go today, but i turned it off after 2 games, it's just boring. Gameplay is far too basic, there's no "skill" element involved, it's just whoever shoots first or whoever gets behind the other guy, similar to COD in that respect. The Star wars nerds will no doubt enjoy it for it's design and looks more than anything but i suspect most fps players won't stick with it for very long if at all.
