Star Wars: Rogue One

Relevant to A New Hope? Yes.

Relevant to this movie? Nope.

It's called "a tie-in" and it doesn't have to be relevant to the current story to "tie-in" to the following.

Think of 'The Infinity Gaunlet' sat on a shelf in the first 'Thor' film. It was a real blink-and-you-missed It moment and yet now it's relevant as 'The Avengers' films will circle back round to it.

Yeah, because the whole premise of the film isn't about blueprints and how 'said' blueprints find there way into the hands of the resistance..... Interesting!!!

Having R2 and 3PO appear in this movie adds nothing except fan service.

If you took out their scenes, the movie would not be changed one bit.

i have the audio of all 3 films from new hope to return of the jedi on cd and new hope is about 5 hours long and about 2 hours before the film kicks in its all about luke prince leia before what you see in the film its very very good not seen this new rogue one but sounds just like the audio

Yep, it was pretty pointless and something that could have been integrated in a much more subtle way in the final act (if at all) when their presence would have been relevant.

I liked that Rogue One had a defined narrative and a clear beginning, middle and end which is something I felt was lacking in Episodes 1, 2, 3 and 7. It actually gave weight to the story and characters rather than feeling like I was being drip fed an intergalactic Hollyoaks omnibus with year-long advert breaks.

I thought it was alright but absolutely rife with cliché's, cheap plot conveniences and predictability.

I agree with this 100%
All these Stars Wars nerds saying it's one of the greatest Star Wars films ever made are having a fucking laugh!

It's like the man Plinkett says at the very start of his hatchet piece: it's all about opinions.

Without getting too stuck on the half a BILLION dollars in global sales up to Xmas eve, the stats below give a more telling story:

8.2 on IMDB
85% on Rotten Tomatoes

It seems his opinion is very much in the minority, but fortunately for us all, he's entitled to it. As are you.
