Apparently Rogue One is set before Episode IV and the plot surrounds rebel efforts to obtain the original Death Star plans. It's a standalone film due out at Christmas 2016. The director behind Godzilla is on board, as is Felicity Jones from The Theory of Everything.

There are going to be a few standalone films in fact one Star Wars film a year for the next 5 years. Also a heads up for any Star Wars fans celebration Europe is in London next year tickets go on sale tonight I'm going :)

There was talk of a Boba Fett spin off which I assume is now likely to be part of the Star Wars Anthology series.

Rogue one sounds fricking awesome. Apparently it is set just before “a new hope” during a time when the Jedi are extinct and the Rebels had no supernatural powers in their favour or any jedi knights to help their cause. I think this is what will make the film great, moving away from the jedi v sith element and I think it will have more of a mature take on the film being aimed at the adult audience.
